It's actually a common thing for her age. At 6, kids begin to step away from being mommy's little babies and start to head into the peer approval stage. I can't tell you how many times I went through the.... "how was school?" - "fine." - "what did you do today?" - "nothin." - "did you learn anything interesting?" - "no." .... routine with my kids! Then I heard about a way to change that by rewording the questions... "what was your favorite part of school today?" "are you learning about addition or subtraction?" "does your teacher say things in a funny way or is she more serious?".... I was amazed at the difference! Hope this helps.. Good luck! :)

keep trying to talk about it. my nephew is in first grade this year also and he says the same thing. Every day i ask him what he had for lunch and what he did at recess? If she knows some of the kids in her class from last year ask her if she plays with any of them. I also ask if my nephew likes his teacher and what he don't like about it.

You could get her a penpal. You could help her write letters and then she will feel more comfortable. But I think she might be grumpy about going back to school so maybe she will change.hoped this helped
