I don't know if there is an exact top and bottom of the scale, but some lenders want to see a credit score of at least 600 to purchase a home - and others want it to be at least 640.
A very high score would be anything over 800. It is extremely rare to see a score of 820 or higher.
A "good" score would be in the 700's.
In general, the higher the score, the lower the interest rate will be.

Lower than a 600 is a high risk for lenders and usually a bad score. There's the free credit reports once a year (available online) and you can always pay a small amount additionally to find out the score they give you. All 3 are different and lenders use all 3 when deciding whether or not to extend credit so it's better to do all 3 once a year if you can.

The scale goes from 300 to 850. Hardly anyone has 850 - anything over 700 is good. Below 600 is bad - under 500 is VERY bad.

FICO reports from 300 to 850.
Vantage reports from 501 to 990.
Every lender now goes by FICO. Vantage is fairly new and is not used by any major lender.
As far as how they rate, above 750 is considered very good, 650 to 749 is good, below 640 is sub-prime and below 500 is very bad.

First - FICO scores are the only ones that matter. If it's not FICO it's not worth squat.
Second, FICO scores range from 350 to 850.
750-850 = Great!
680-750 = Good
Less than that is not good.
