My kids are both very picky. It can be hard packing a lunch every day, but I have sent:

sandwiches (of course); sometimes I use the cocktail size breads; sometimes I cut the bread into shapes using a cookie cutter. BLT's are a nice change.

vegetables and dips.

fruit (grapes, fresh pineapple, strawberries, melon, apples-give a quick soak in lemon lime soda to prevent browning)

hot dogs (I boil and put into a thermos I've warmed) and send a hot dog bun

grilled chicken I've cooked the night before; fried chicken breast strips; left over beef bricket or roast (I usually warm it some).

warm cooked noodles w/butter (put in a warm thermos); spaghetti-cold;

left over taco meat; flour tortilla and toppings for a do it yourself taco.

uncooked ramen noodles. my daughter and her friends eat them straight from the package. they say they're good.

cereral. put the cereal in the bowl and send milk in a thermos or let them buy it at school.

pizza-i usally warm it some and wrap in foil.

hard boiled eggs; granola bars; jello cups; go-gurt yogurt-i freeze it and send it frozen and it's really cold at lunch time but not frozen; popcorn;

I always keep the extra packets of ketsup, mustard, bbq sauce, napkins and plactic utensils from fast food restaurants to send in lunches.

I know a really great cookbook called "The Creative Lunchbox", healthy and creative lunch cookbook. Although, I do have some ideas up my sleeve. 1. Fill pita bread with hummus and vegetables (cucumbers, carrots, radishes, etc.) Hummus is a great source of protein, there are vegetables, and you can use whole wheat pita bread for more more health 2. cheese and black bean or cheese and meat (beef, chicken, etc.) quesadillas. Serve with salsa for dip 3. Pack fruit, veggies, pretzels, chips, and granola bar or a small treat in lunch 4. Also, be careful about juice boxes. Some are packed with artificial flavors and corn syrup. A brand I trust is Juicy Juice 5. Sandwiches are always appreciated-anywhere from pb&j to turkey and cheese By the way, I am a teen, so I think this is pretty good.

Blue Cheese Turkey Rolls serves 2

INGREDIENTS
3 tablespoons crumbled blue cheese
2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons sour cream
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 dash garlic powder
2 slices thinly sliced deli turkey
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley

DIRECTIONS
In a bowl, combine the first five ingredients. Spread over each slice of turkey; roll up each from a long side. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes or until chilled. Cut into 1-in. slices. Dip one cut end into parsley. Serve immediately.

oyster crackers serves 2

INGREDIENTS
1/8 (1 ounce) package ranch dressing mix
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon dried dill weed
1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1/8 (12 ounce) package oyster crackers

DIRECTIONS
Mix together ranch dressing mix, garlic powder, dill and vegetable oil. Add crackers and mix gently until the crackers are coated with the mixture. Stir every 10 minutes for 1 hour. Store in an airtight jar.

Creamy Fruit Salad serves 2

INGREDIENTS
1/2 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/8 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 (15.25 ounce) can fruit cocktail
2-1/4 teaspoons maraschino cherries, halved
1/4 banana, sliced (optional)

DIRECTIONS
Combine the cream cheese and condensed milk; blend until smooth.
Drain the juice from 1 can of the fruit cocktail and add to cream cheese mixture. Add the other can with all its juice and any other fruit at this time. Mix with a large spoon.
Add extra condensed milk to sweeten if desired. Cover with saran wrap and chill. Mix well and serve cold

peanut butter and jelly sandwich, peanut butter and celery, fruit, cereal, granola bar, chex mix, goldfish or graham crackers. For something to drink you could send a bottle of water and those Koolaid singles packs (1 packet for every 8 oz of water). That way, she can decide when she gets her lunch out whether to have plain water or juice.

PB&J. LOL, I know its cliche but it gives her the protein to stay alert and the natural sugars from the jelly to give you energy without being hyper. Put a piece of fruit and a snack of some sort.

MY SON IS IN FIRST GRADE AS WELL,I PLAN ON GIVING HIM,LUNCHABLES,DIFERENT KIND OF SANDWICHES,CARROTS WITH DIP,ALL KINDS OF FRUITS AND HE LOVES A VARIETY OF SALADS,LUNCH DOES NOT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE SANDWICHES,MY SONS FAVE IS WHAT I CALL A COLD PICNIC WHICH CONSIST OF A PIECE OF FRIED CHICKEN(HOWEVER I DEBONE IT BEFORE I PACK IT INTO HIS LUNCHBOX)SOME COLESLAW OR POTATOE SALAD AND A SMALL FRUIT CUP.I HOPE THIS HELPS
