Romans 8
8:31
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
(If we have the Lord God on our "side" then who could possibly win against us?)
8:32
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (God DID give us "all things" when He gave us His One & Only Son)
8:33
Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
(God is the only one that can truly see our hearts, therefore He KNOWS why we have done what we have done!)
8:34
Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
(PTL!! That we have such an awesome "Lawyer" :)
woo hoo!!)
8:35
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
(once you have honestly & truly accepted the FREE gift of salvation..NOTHING can separate you from God..not even yourself!)
8:36
As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."
(Even though in this life we WILL have tribulations..meaning terribly tough issues that we must endure...it is thru the way that we "hold fast" no matter what THIS life is like...whether good or bad, happy or sad, healthy or sick, percecuted or free our testimony holds true, that we love God no matter what!!!)
8:37
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
(In the end of all things in this sin-filled world, we will over come & be with our Savior, Lord & King in a New World! PTL!!!)
8:38
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, (see next verse)
8:39
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Once you have given your life to Christ, He will hold you forever!..For it is impossible to go back....Hebrews 6:4 It is IMPOSSIBLE for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, 6 if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Which NO ONE that really & truly loves the Lord would EVER do!! Hence true salvation..once & always)

While I agree with the majority of the statements made regarding our salvation I think one topic has been missed. Suffering. Remember God did not spare his son and we are certainly no better than he. While we will prosper it will not always be in the monetary. Hard times will come and often, but through these times God will see us through until we come home. Early Christians knew this all to well and America could do with a reminder and a wake up call.

The peroration is one of the great rhetorical flourishes in the New Testament: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

In other words, there is nothing outside ourselves that can destroy our intimacy with God and our life in him. When this was written, Christians were relentlessly persecuted by Jews, killed by pagans, and hounded by Roman authorities. The author, Paul, was later put to death in Rome, and most of the disciples suffered a similar fate. But these faithful few are just as much alive today with Jesus in heaven as they were when they proclaimed the Gospel.

Paul is addressing "the saints in Rome" (Rom 1:7). These are members of Christ's church, his brethren (Rom 8:12).

Paul speaks of how even during our heavy trials and tribulations Rom (8:35-36), God not only remembers us, but loves us. Nor can anything on earth or in heaven prevent that love, "separate us from the love of God" (though we may not feel it during the hard times - that is why Paul makes mention of it). God's greatest manifestation of His love for us was the sending of His Son, Jesus Christ "for us all" (Rom 8:32,39).

And what incredible blessings our Savior brought us!

Paul's writings are densely, compactly written, and according to Peter, sometimes hard to understand (2 Peter 3:15-16).

The awesome words of Paul expressing the love God shares with each Christian!

Romans 8:31-39 (KJV)

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Paul asks: “If God is for us, who will be against us?” True, Satan and his wicked world are against us. Enemies may falsely accuse us, even in the courts of the land.

Whatever misfortune life today may bring us—whether a debilitating accident, a terminal disease, or an economic calamity—nothing can destroy God’s love for his people. Powerful angels, such as the disobedient angel who became Satan, cannot influence Jehovah to stop loving his devoted servants. (Job 2:3) Governments may ban, imprison, and mistreat God’s servants and may label them “persona non grata.” (1 Corinthians 4:13) Such unjustified hatred by the nations may pressure humans to turn against us, but it does not sway the Sovereign of the universe to abandon us.

As Christians, we need not fear that any of what Paul called “things now here”—the events, conditions, and situations in this present system of things—nor “things to come” in the future can break God’s attachment to his people. Though earthly and heavenly powers wage war against us, God’s loyal love is there to sustain us. Neither “height nor depth” hinders God’s love, as stressed by Paul.
Yes, nothing that might tend to pull us down, nor anything tending to exercise a superior influence on us, can separate us from God’s love; nor can any other creation disrupt the Creator’s relationship with his faithful servants. God’s love never fails; it is everlasting.—1 Corinthians 13:8.

How is it that "we are more than conquerors"? Well, a conqueror does not know the outcome of a war. But we do. No matter how many times you watch the trilogy Lord of the Rings, and no matter how many times you see evil win the battles, no matter how many times you believe that evil will win--we know the ending is set. There is a crown that awaits, and we know Who will be victorious.

I am in awe. These verses are very humbling to me. No time for any explanation, sorry, only gratitude. Indescribable. My flimsy attempt at this time would dishonor the blessing I currently feel after reading them.

Total security and Rest; here in this world and the one to come, in Our Righteous and Loving God.

Question should have been directed at non-believers too . These verses will show them how magnanimous and loving our God is.
