Short but simple you can get lung cancer from smoking, or it being hereditary, or living in a city like n.y.c due to smoke, and fog. Also from being exposed to asbestos. Second hand smoke also causes lung cancer. Hope this helps!

Do you mean what are some reasons FOR having lung cancer? Smoking is a huge factor. Like any cancer, it starts with a mutated cell... could be due to free radicals.

There are 2 types of lung cancer.

Small cell carcinoma - in over 99% of cases the risk factor is smoking (including passive or 2nd hand smoke)

Non-small cell carcinoma - the main risk factor is smoking, with exposure to things such as asbestos and other chemicals also being risk factors for particular industries.
