I wonder how many people died when he created the flood.

Christians have always told me that God is perfect and that he knows everything.
If that is true, why would he create humans when he knew they were going to do evil things? To me that sounds like murder.

Wait a minute, lemme look up the word "murder". Let's see, Wikipedia says murder is:

Murder is the illegal killing of one human being by another. Murder is distinguished from other forms of homicide by the elements of malice and the lack of justification.

Now, lemme look in my Bible. Hmmm, Noah. Genesis 6:5: "The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time." Nope, no innocents there. Only evil people. Was God justified in destrying the evil people so that good people could rule again? Sure. Was God doing it out of malice? Nope. Like I said, he was destroying the evil so the good could rule in peace again.

Let's look again. How about Joshua? Sure, he killed lots of people living in Canaan before the Israelites moved in. But get a load of this: 'Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways [talking about sexual immorality], because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled. Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.' (Leviticus 18: 24-25) Any innocent bystanders here? Nope, they were all guilty. They were so brazenly sinning that they even the ground they walked on got sick at the nasty things they did. Did God tell Joshua to do this out of malice? Nope. Again, He was destroying the evil so that the good could rule again.

There are many, many more passages like this. God does not randomly kill people just because He feels like it. That certainly would make Him a murderer. Instead, He lets evil get to a certain point to where even the landscape can't stand how bad the people are, then He moves them out of the way so that good people can take over. Go back to the definition of murder: God doesn't kill people out of malice, nor does He lack justification. God is no more guilty of murder than a judge who hands a death sentence to someone rightly accused of multiple heinous crimes.

Did your Mama not teach you respect. You should stop name calling and find out if what you really said is true or not. When you put something like this slander on, you need to give your source or sources for this...So give us scriptures where it says God is a murderer. Since God is the Commander and Chief of all the armies,,,he has the right to wage war in his name....so tell us,,,,who did he murder? You need to read the Book of Job...you might learn something. And BTW..this is an old athiest question since time began...not original.....

First of all our God which just happens to be the Creator of ALL life has every right to do whatever He wishes. After all it is His world. And it does say in Psalms 135:6 that He does as He pleases.
Frankly, I am going to obey HIM and recieve eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. For He not only has the power to kill the body but also to cast the soul into hell.
Sorry, I personally do not want any part of that.
And as you call it murder, you have to realize that He warns us of our sin and rebellion over and over again. He cannot and will not tolerate sin. So, He chooses to rid of those who are in constant rebellion against Him.
Remember in 2 Peter 3:9 , God is not willing that any would perish but that ALL would come to repentance.

God is love and He loves you !

You need to read the WHOLE bible... Not just the parts you like or dis-like! God didn't create EVIL... A human did! Read what happened in the Garden Of Eden! By the way... What does YOUR bible say?

That would be true if murder included justified killing. But murder, by definition, is only unjustified, unauthorized taking of life. For example, an executioner is not a murder by following his orders to execute a prisoner who has been convicted and sentenced to death. A person who shoots and kills a person who is strangling another is not a murder. He's saving the life of the person who is being strangled. A police officer who shoots a subject who is shooting at the police is not a murder.

So, if you mean that God has killed, you are absolutely correct. If you mean he has done it in an unlawful or unauthorized way, you are absolutely wrong.

What you call murder comes out as punishment for wrong doing. And who is better qualified to judge a wrong than the person who created us.
If you read the bible carefully, you will find that God asks us to obey him, and refusal carries the death penalty.
Now you can assume where all those today, who refuse will be punished. You know who they are. Particularly those on here who expound their ideas.

Which verse are you referring to?

Are the people who execute criminals on death row murderers?

----------------

At the flood only 8 people survived, so alot of people died. But it's not like they didn't have an opportunity to listen and get in the ark. Noah preached for some 40 years before the flood came so there was more than enough time for those people to listen to the warning and act on it.

Jesus explained that those people put more importance on "eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage" than listening to Noah, "until the day that Noah entered into the ark; and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away." (Matthew 24:38, 39).

This wasn't murder, this was righteous, divine judgement.

-----------------

God is all-knowing and he can forsee the future but that does not mean he does it all the time just like a talented singer does not sing every minute of the day.

God created Adam and Eve with free-will, not like robots. They chose to disobey. Death was only mentioned as a result of disobedience.

Shortly before the Flood, the earth was filled with violence due to the hybrid offspring of materialised angels. At Genesis 6:7, God said: "I am going to wipe men whom I have created off the surface of the ground, from man to domestic animal, to moving animal and to flying creature of the heavens, because I do regret that I have made them."

How could God feel regret over making mankind if he knew they would descend into that state of violence?

Well if God is the creator of life would it really matter? Not only do I disagree with your entire question as it is...but if He starts life shouldn't He be allowed to end it? If a potter throws one of his pots into the garbage is he a murderer?

God cannot murder since he is the giver of life and our Creator and has the right to choose who lives and who dies. It is his right as our Creator. He sets the standards for his creation. Only those who do not have the right to decide who lives or dies and takes the life of someone is a murderer.

Actually, as the giver of life, God is at liberty to determine how long that life lasts.

If you feel that God has taken a life unfairly, take that up with God. I'm not God, therefore I can't speak for his motives.
