Depends on the child, I would say between 3-6 years old. My daughter is 3 and can write her name pretty well. But my other 3 year old is still having trouble with it. All kids learn at their own pace.

Between 3 and 7its no biggie when ever, some kids are way in front re intelligence and still take ages cos they are bored.
Do not take any notice of others saying my kid did this at 2 or 3...it all balances out in the end.
Besides it is not a race, more about building self esteem.
Marinate your child in love.

5 when they know there letters and stuff somewhat good.. They can learn before then or take a little longer after age 5 but around 5 in kindergarden is on average.

my son is 4 1/2 and he just learned how to write his first name we are working on his last name now.

it depends on the child its self my 4 year old cant write his name he trys n thinks he can do it

I say 3.. 31/2. My nephew did it around that age. but plus hes very smart.;)

my son and daughter both learned not too long after they turned 4
