I went to Circuit City and gave the cashier my AmEx card and he looked all surprised. Then he asked what kind of work I do... after hesitating for a minute, I told him... And I asked why he wanted to know, and he replied that he wants to know what kind of work he should be doing instead of working at circuit city .......since AmEx only approves people with good credit... is it true that you need good credit for an AmEx card? I've never heard of this before...

Personally, I don't consider myself to have above average credit scores, but I've had an American Express card for over 10 years. I do know for a fact, that unlike many other credit card issuers', AmEx does investigate your income, and job references. So you can't expect to be issued an American Express credit card unless you can prove that you earn a certain amount of money per year, and it can be verified.
Also, I've never used my AmEx card like other credit cards, I've never contacted AmEx to change my card to a revolving credit credit card, such as Visa, Mastercard, or the Discover card. Any purchases I make using my AmEx card, the total sum of my account charges are due with each months bill. If I charge $50,000 on my AmEx card, I am obligated to pay them the complete balance when I receive my bill. And, I like it that way.

I have good credit and get letter after letter asking me if I want an American Express card. Many places do not accept them and why does anyone want to pay a yearly fee to have a credit card?
