DON'T...

14 is young but not too young. If you find a person you like then go on a date. If you do start dating now in a few years you will feel more at ease dating, when it really matters.

First of all, ask your parents and see what they have to say. (Most likely dad will say NOT UNTIL YOU ARE 35!) He'll not insist on that forever.

Going out with a group of friends with a guy (I'm guessing you are a girl) would be okay or to parties where there are adults present would be fine too, bt for at least another year or two I would suggest you concentrate on your school work and leave the dating to the high school crowd. It'll come soon enough.

You could go dating but try not to get too physically involved.

As you grow up, you would realise that the relationships you had as a kid are different from those in adulthood. I am in my 20s and as I looked back at my teenage years, I see a lot of foolishness and impracticality. Go out with the boys just to see how it's like for you. But do not lose the balance between your education, family, social activities and your friends.

I don't know what the hurry is, but if your parents are o.k. with it, then you could try going out on group dates to start. I personally think that you can wait, but I don't know you or your maturity level. You only have so many years to be a kid. Why not enjoy them?

P.S.- If you're that ambivalent where you're asking strangers for advice, you're probably not ready. Do you even want to date, or is it just peer pressure? These are all questions to consider.

When you find the right guy thats the time you should start dating. Dont just date the first guy that asks you out. Wait for someone special and one that you realy like. Dosent matter what age you are.

First do your parents have an opinion? It does no good if you decide to, if they will not let you!

Try to set up a few study dates. It is a great way to see if you are ready. If it goes well then you can maybe go to the movies or a restaurant (Local Teen Hangout will do).

Good Luck!

Well everyone is different but here is my experience:

My friends who waited until they were 17 or 18 (out of high school) before they started seriously dating, have never had any regrets about it.

My friends and I who had started young (12-15 years old) all have regrets about something, most of them having something to do with being too young.

Don't start dating just because everybody else is. Make sure you are ready and that you like the person your dating

I believe it is emotional age not chronological age. If you have to ask on whether you should start maybe your not ready quite yet. But only you will know if your ready. A lot of pressure comes with dating sometimes so be ready - know your limits and what to do in situations
