If you have your birth certificate it should list your mother’s maiden name on that.
If you do not and you just have your birth certificate number, you should be able to use that to receive a copy of your certificate and obtain your mother's maiden name.

Couldn't you just simply ask your grandmother? If she's related to your mother she should know.
But if you're mother was single when she bore you it is possible that she used her own middle name as your last name. For example: Jessica W. Fitzgerald, where Fitzgerald is the last name of your mother and "W" taken from your grandmother's maiden name.
First, find out if the (last) name your are using now is really that of your real father because sometimes a mother won't reflect or follow the name of the father in the birth certificate because maybe the child was abandoned and the mother doesn't want the child to know his/her father (which actually produces the opposite effect)..
If she was married to your father, maybe you could simply visit her place and ask around. Someone must have known her and even may tell you some things you haven't known when she was still alive or with regards to your father.
You could also go to the local registrar in that place and ask for information about your mother. Most likely the registrar has kept some records of her or her family there just like you have your own birth record in your own local registrar where you could search for your mother's middle name, if she used your father's name.
Hope this gives you an idea to your problem.

Some states have birth certificates at the health departments...some are kept in the states capitol.
Her name should be on your birth record....it shows the mothers maiden name along with the father(if known).
If you don't have it there...get her birth record by..her state..parents names..siblings maiden names..
Really your mothers maiden name would be the same as your grandparents(her mom and dad).................Good luck...God bless

My mother's name is on my birth certificate. Other ideas would be to get a copy of your parents' marriage license. Also, you can go to: Public-records-now.com and put in her last known name and last known state. It usually lists all the names the person had and relatives associated with him/her.

Your mothers maiden name is on your birth certificate. Also her maiden name is likely the same last name as your Grandmother or Grandfather (her parents)

It should be the same last name as your grandmothers last name.. unless your grandmother was remarried before she raised you.
In other words.. your grandparents got married and had a child (your mom)... Simply their last name is your mothers maiden name.

It should be right on your birth certificate. If your maternal grandmother raised you, it will be the same name.

My mother's maiden name is on my birth certificate.
My maiden name is on my child's birth certificate.
I'm guessing your mother's maiden name is listed on your birth certificate as well.

It should be on your birth certificate. Do you know the hospital where you were born? They should have it on file somewhere.
