I have MANY great, marketable, and potentially lucrative ideas for inventions and improvements on existing products, but I do not have the financial resources to pay one of those invention assistance Companies $2,000 for a presentation of my product, and then $10,000 for a prototype of my product. How do I go about presenting my product to a Company for possible mass production as a partnership or for a percentage of the royalties? Do I need to obtain a patent first, how much is a patent, where do I apply for one, etc, etc??? Any and all advice, guidance, and support is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Have you ever heard the expression, “Ideas are a dime a dozen.” ? Well, that’s EXACTLY the way the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office [USPTO] sees it.

Quite a few years ago, when I did my investigation and inquiries to get a patent, I was told a person must have complete plans, a prototype AND within a relatively short period of time after the patent is granted, be ready to go into full production of your product. Perhaps regulations became easier/more liberal.

To get the exact particulars of a patent’s requirements, you should invest some time [and perhaps some money for the consultation] with a knowledgeable, competent copyright, patent and trademark attorney in or near the city where you live.

He/She should be able to fully answer your questions and direct you to/through the proper channels.

You need some money "to get the ball rolling". You may have to go to work to get a few thousand dollars together.

In all honesty, until you decide to invest in yourself first and you DO invest in yourself first, your chances to capitalize on any of your ideas and to have it/them realized are extremely remote in getting anyone to invest in you.

Ask friends and relatives. Ask someone to lend money for you to set up a corporation. THIS IS A "CATCH 22." Consult a knowledgeable attorney about this.

At the very least, the answer you will or may get is a flat "NO" - without any explanation. Other than in love and romance, "NO" never hurt anyone, did it?

Thank you for asking your question. I enjoyed taking the time to answer it. You did a great job - not only for your information, but for every other person interested in reading my answer. Thanks to everyone for reading my answer.

I wish you well!
