I know a guy who has several mugshots posted online from different dates, he claims that he was only arrested once and that the other two pictures were updates. Does anyone know if they 'update' mugshots in New Jersey? He is a convicted sex offender and I want this guy away from my family. I really want to prove that he is lying, I just don't know how to go about doing it. So, any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

In Ohio, they update the photos at least every year while they're in prison. Registered sex offenders also get their new photos taken annually by the county sheriff's dept. as part of their every 90 day registration of address, etc.

NJ and possibly his county has to have a registry for all sex offenders to be in compliance with part of Megan's Law. Normally it has more info than just where he lives now. See if it doesn't have some links which will show you his history. Or possibly the county clerk of courts where he was charged has a docket history that you can look up.

If he is a sex offender then they are probably updates since each year(or more often depending on the state) he has to re-register where they take an updated picture.

They might update his picture for their records. But like a person said, they probably wouldn't be considered "mug shots"
