i just bought a male rat yesterday and i hav no clue what to name him!!! i have 2 other rats named harley and java, but this lil' guy doesnt have a name! he is a black rat with a white underbelly. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I tend to stay away from the cuter names, so I'll give this a try for perspective.
Stoker, Beezle, (Vampire Hunter) D., Smudge, Skaven (Warhammer), Dante, Nosferatu (Nos), Baskerville, Hecate, Jack Daniels (JD), Schnapps, Bowser, Cthulhu, Io, Seph, Seraph, Nephilim, Critter, Draven, Phylo, Cnidarian (C is silent, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cnidaria )... that's all I can think of at the moment.
I do know that rats respond better to shorter, snappier names. You can definitely pick something longer, just make sure you have a nice nickname.

I think you should call him Mr Tibbs - I know it's usually the name of a cat - but it will make people say "huh" and make the name more memorable for them. Also - It's a cute name for a sophisticated rat. (I already have images of a rat with a bowler hat, a nice suit and spats).
Just my own totally mad opinion - for what its worth

we had a rat my daughter named Cheddar because rats like cheese.
he passed away a couple of years ago. he was awesome for a pet.
