I have heard I can use Borox to kill fleas in my home brought on by my two cats. Is this safe for the cats to use on the carpet? How exactly is the procedure done?

Here is a link that you can check to see if it is on this list of products and foods and plants that are toxic to cats.

It's not Borox. It might be Borax.
Borax has mixed reviews. Numerous people state that it doesn't seem to do much.

You should remove the cats and yourself and and open food, and bug bomb the house every 4 days for at least 3 t imes. If your infestation is bad, do it 6 times.

Borax works on cockroaches really well (you put some on a piece of paper or in an old jar lid and slide it under the appliances), but I've never known it to work on fleas.

Fleas can be driven away by giving 1/4 tsp of wheat germ over the cat's food three times a week (take some yourself, it's good for you), making them taste really bad to the fleas so they're left alone.

Don't let cats touch borax or eat it, it's not safe for them.

The safest and cheapest method of getting rid of fleas is to use a mixture of boric acid and salt. The powder should be sprayed on carpets, bedding and areas frequented by pets. More information on getting rid of fleas is available at http://pests.in/fleas.html
