This is for people who do not believe in a god (including agnostics)

Does everyone that knows you know your stance on God?

I'm a uhhh, off-the-living-room-study atheist.

If you ask, I'll tell you, but I wouldn't say unless you ask.

Should they?

Noone likes scrutiny....especially unfounded scrutiny. If I'm asked, I have no problem telling them my stance. If I go around openly announcing my non-believing status, that would be kinda rude to those that DO believe. Don't you agree?
I do not impose my beliefs on anyone. Kinda UNLIKE some over faithfuls that shall remain nameless. We all have brains, believe what you want....that's the beauty about being able to choose.
Have a great day.

Everyone that asks knows the truth. I don't make it a point to proclaim to everybody I meet that I'm an Atheist anymore than I make it a point to proclaim to everbody I meet that I'm allergic to blueberries. It isn't a secret; it's just that I think talking about what you don't believe in just isn't as important as focusing on what you do care about.

I'm halfway out of the closet. The people I care about and who I trust, know, as do anonymous people on the internet - like you guys.

To everyone else, I'm a lukewarm Christian.

I've only told a few people. Most people I know probably know, though. I don't make it a secret on purpose. Honestly, most of the time it just doesn't matter. If I like someone and I like hanging out with them, I don't really care what they believe.

All my friends and family know. I now also have a couple of t shirts one of which screams the word Atheist across the front in big red letters. The looks one gets are really priceless. I highly recommend getting one :)

Most people that know me well are aware that I'm an atheist. I don't keep it a secret, but I don't go around screaming it from the rooftops, either. If it comes up in conversation, I'll mention it ... but I don't introduce myself by saying, "Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Kathryn, and I'm an atheist."

I don't push my ideology on anyone ... if they ask I'm happy to share how I feel, but I always like to end by saying its more faith than fact leads to these beliefs

... its what separates me from the evangelists

No, not everyone.

In the case of my parents, I am trying to save them pain and worry. They are getting older and would be scared to death for my soul.

It is an act of compassion, not letting them know.

Yes. Why should I be ashamed?

In the UK, being an atheist doesn't have a stigma like it does in the USA
