Okay , you have a thyroid nodule FNA with indeterminate result , in our practice this means repeating FNA under sonography guide for at least once more time before proceeding with thyroid surgery . Also for approaching to your problem radionuclide scanning is also a wise consideration . I will decide your further management steps after these steps that I mention .

Hello,
I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis and have chosen to go the route of natural treatments more than not. This question is very hard from someone to answer because it is your body and it wouldn't be right for anybody but you to make such an important decision. However, there are a couple thoughts I have:
1. I have seen that once you go down the road of seeing a "specialist" or in the thyroid world we call them Endocrinologist. You will find that these specialist are useful if you are going the route of the "traditional" treatment of your disease. If you desire a more natural approach, you will not normally find any support in their office. This happened to me in that I believed my body could heal but I was almost laughed at. I am now seeking non-invasive approaches to this disease.
2. I am concerned about disturbing the cells around the area in question. Am I a doctor? No. So this is where we all need to decide what approach works the best for us - emotionally and physically. But in my determination to find natural treatments, I have been pleasantly surprised to see many of my symptoms relieved by diet and lifestyle changes. My story is on my website and my blog but I feel that if some symptoms can be relieved, than others can too.
So, in conclusion, I know it would be wrong for me to "tell you" what to do. But, if you pressed me, I would recommend you seek the advice of a natural doctor before doing anything to your body that disturbs it's natural power to reverse the damage itself. I also wouldn't think that 3-6 months is too long to gain information and assessment while waiting to approach this important decision with as much confidence as possible.
In saying all of this, I must stress that this is a personal decision that no one can make for you. The advice I am giving you can not take the place of a caring doctor (preferably one that believes in the healing power of the body). Unfortunately, we all have to make difficult decisions with this disease. I tend to believe there is a root problem that hasn't been discovered yet that can help reverse it. If you would like to discuss this with others in your condition that are choosing natural approaches to nodules and Hashimotos, I do have a forum that has been going for 4 years. We are small because until recently, it hasn't been as popular to look for natural treatments. It would be great to have you there with us if you become interested.
Good luck and I hope something in this answer has helped you move forward in some way.

I had Hashimoto's AND thyroid cancer.
I had a lump on my thyroid and the FNA conclusively said cancer. The nodule you have is big enough that if it were cancerous, it could be dangerous. My tumor was about 1.5cm.
My suggestion for you is to get a better specialist to do an ultrasound guided FNA. The biopsy sample should come from the suspicious area. If it's ultrasound guided, it should help the doctor pinpoint exactly where to get the sample from.
Also, several pathologists reviewed the sample and they all concluded that it was cancer.
Instead of waiting to see what happens, get a second/better opinion and see if someone can give you a conclusive answer.
Best of luck to you.

Is the thing, you have malignant nodules even though the percentage is small they are still malignant. So, why on earth would you want to wait?????
I was told after a ulta sound that it showed no characteristics of cancer and that I should wait 6 months and have it run again. I choice not to wait and had the lump taking out. CANCER!!!! Thank God I had it taken out when I did. That was 14 years ago. Just something to think about

I have Hashimotos syndrome, I have also dealt with as unrelated cancer.
If I was given this advise by my Dr, I would be having the surgery tomorrow!
Often/usually with cancers, the difference between between a long and cancer free life or continual treatment and death os how quickly an accurate diagnosis is received and treatment started.
