I've come to realize on this site is when you have a different opinion they block you. There is a muslim woman whos name is B when you point out the idocy of 'scientific miracles' in the quran she blocks you. Also critisizing Islam is bashing Islam

I reported that Java whatever her name was, she posted rant after rant, encouraging violence and hated towards another individual on here. The last straw was when she asked if it would be OK to wish her a painful illness, an accident and some other highly offensive cr@p.
It is the first time I have used the option in months.
Oh and the target of this nastiness was a member of a religion, I am an Atheist. Some things transcend belief or non belief.

I've only actually reported one person ... who posted a phone number, I did it because I though it was most likely some jerk trying to 'blow up' an enemies phone ... but idk, not only is posting a phone number against Y!A rules, but its stupid
other than that I live by the court of public opinion rules
#1 never take anything personally
#2 have thick skin
#3 take what I need, and leave the rest
#4 have the ability to laugh at myself
... as far as the world goes, I think we could do a much better job of respecting other cultures

I was reported for using the word "rape" yesterday. Sure enough, I got a violation notice.
I myself reported someone who used the derogatory word for the male reproductive organ 3-4 times in a post today, and referred to someone with a legitimate question to "suck it". It was pretty nasty, and he was a level 3. When reporting this person, I asked, "How am I not able to use the word "rape" when this guy is cussing up a storm?"
I have been reported for simply having an opposing opinion, and yes, I fight it each time, insisting that I have not broken the TOS, yet I get no response. The Y!A guys seem to have to rhyme or reason to any of it.
I would prefer it if we could swear, but to have a double-standard and slap my wrist for nothing, and let others go rampant makes me angry.

To be honest, I haven't reported that many people on Y!A. Mostly because I tend to ignore them. But I'm sorely tempted to report the atheists and agnostics that troll this section with inflammatory questions and answers. I have nothing against honest questions and answers... but it gets mighty tiring to hear variations of why God doesn't exist, why the Bible isn't true, and why Christians/religious people are complete tools for believing what they choose to believe. In the end.... No. One. Cares.
I've also reported some WWF idiots who came onto the martial arts section and started making fun of UFC. (For the record, I'm not a fan of UFC... but these guys got annoying and clogged up the answers to honest questions.)
I will perhaps report somone if he makes a particularly vicious or hostile answer to a honest question.
For me, it's all about respect. If you have a different viewpoint, fine. That's what Y!A is here for. But don't be a you-know-what about it.

i've been reported a few times for minor offenses. i think some people are very sensitive to some words, ideas, comments and as soon as they see something along the lines of those they report it. even if what you said isn't really offensive at all.
for example, a guy asked a question in the singles about ignoring women who try to strike up a conversation with him. he does this because he 'thinks' they are blond bimbos. anyway, i told him i though he was acting like an a** and being rude by not even talking to them when clearly they are trying to talk to him.
was it really necessary to report that???... he even withdrew the question after someone else agreed with me

I get reported every single day. I actually got reported for saying *drink* 5 times last week. I think it's some people's only way of getting even with an answer they don't like. I have never reported anyone, and never will.

I dont know but it gets on my nerves. I had my question removed, "who believes searing meat helps seal in the juices". I had some aggresive replies so I rsponded accordingly. Someone reported me and now it has been removed. People need to get a life.

"Inuyasha", above, IS correct...
Also, I was taught to "mind my OWN business" rather early in Life, but, then again, I grew up in a time when America was still FREE, and still respected, by it's enemies and it's citizens alike.
As Jesus was reputed to have said, "Let he among you who is WITHOUT SIN cast the first stone."
That means YOU, Snitches / Reporters.
(By the way... "Yahoo Answers is a self-policing community" IS the most asinine statement I've read all week! Look up the word "Vigilante" in YOUR Websters!)

You know, Adolph Hitler is an excellent example of what happens when hateful people are allowed to go unchecked.
I report people. That's true, and I admit it. I don't report people for disagreeing with me--that's just a chickshit way out of having to deal with other people's viewpoints, and I don't condone that. But hateful remarks about a person's race or sexual preference I will not stand for. That's what makes me click that little flag.
I get reported all the time. *Shrug* I'm an Atheist. It's just going to happen around here. But again, I don't play that game when it comes to reporting people merely because I disagree with them: That's what thumbs-downs are for.
