(For Indy, RibFest is the best opportunity for free live music...not only Hootie, but come on! where else can you stuff yourself with ribs and hear Buddy Guy, KC and the Sunshine Band, Pat Benetar & Big Head Todd & The Monsters!?!? :) )

Theatre: Phoenix Theatre by Mass Ave Downtown (not sure what's playing but its a great little offbeat production venue...they have Sunday matinées....

Definitely take the time to head out of downtown and check out Zionsville...any of those days except Sunday (almost everything is closed). Zionsville has a great little cobblestone Main Street and lots of retail and antique shops, parks, etc. --it's even great for window shopping. If you go on Friday or Saturday, check out the best restaurant around, Brix...

I have to agree with kgilbert 78 - the Indianapolis Zoo is awesome and I absolutely love the elephants! Be sure to check it out!
Additionally, Sky Concert is Saturday night, and that'll bring about 400,000 people downtown - be warned! It'll be ungodly crowded, but it's a lot of fun if you can tolerate the herds!
Rib Fest is cool, and Hootie and the Blowfish are in concert Sunday night. Rib Fest is always a fun time!
Besides that, there are the usual downtown attractions - Circle Center Mall, the Children's Museum which is one of the best in the country, the NCAA Hall of Champions, and the Indiana State Museum. The Indianapolis Indians are in town Friday and Saturday nights, too, if you're a baseball fan.
It's a great weekend to be in Indianapolis, but just remember it'll be busy! Lots and lots of people!

My wife and I often go to Indy on vacation. We especially like the Indianapolis Zoo, because they have a great elephant program. There are many fun places within walking distance of downtown. For shopping, try the Circle Center Mall, right in the heart of downtown. Attached to it is the Wintergarden, which often has free concerts of various sorts. The Eiteljorg museum is also downtown--it is a world-renowned museum focusing on Western and Native-American art. The Indianapolis Museum of Art is free (except for special exhibits). It's on the old Lilly Estate. The NCAA headquarters is there, with a museum and next to it is the Indiana State Museum with an IMAX theater. Check out the Indy website given below.
