have you ever watched antique road show on PBS? You maybe able to find tickets to a place they visit near you. I wouldn't sell it just to anyone either especially if it has family history to it. If it don't try to sell or give it to a museum for other people to see it, the Marine museum would probably love to have.

There are a ton of people that specialize in this kind of stuff... google one and they can take a look at it. Then total EBAY it.
