There is a record, but not the points. They have to keep a record because you can only take traffic school a limited number of times over a set period (set by each state).

If you took the defensive driving course (it may be called something different in your state like the "driving safety course"), then the ticket will never show up on your driving record. What might show up on your driving record is the fact that you took defensive driving. But no one will ever know you got a ticket - including the insurance company.

By the way, you may want to consider mailing in the duplicate certificate you received from the school to your insurance company. Many insurance companies will add a discount to your premium just for taking the class.

I was reading the other answers - they're right in saying that what information shows up depends on the state (I forgot about California). But if you live in Texas, nothing shows up on your record except the class.

The points normally stay on your driving for insurance purposes. If you have paid any fine it will show up on your driving record and insurance companies count that in figuring your insurance price.

As for your driving record check with the DMV to see if the points are still on your driving record. You can get an official copy from your DMV for a small fee. Good luck I hope your auto insurance rates don't go up.

Depends on the state you live at, call your local DMV. If you attend a class it will be taken off in most states.

In Florida, it is erased and even your insurance company cannot legally raise your rates. Check your State DMV.

In California it is on your record but says that it was dismissed. In three years there will be nothing.
