I believe the army has a program for enlistment that includes two years after you finish your training, but that depends on whatever MOS you take. I'm not sure about the Marine Corps side of the house, but once again it will vary. My one piece of advice to you with whichever direction you go is to ensure that you get everything in writing in your contract -- read it thoroughly and ask questions if you are unsure. You should be absolutely sure what you are agreeing to, and it will be better for all parties concerned.

If you have a degree at the end of your 2 years then you could become a Marine officer in the Military Police area. Officers have a much more flexible ability on when they want to get out. Most have a certain commitment, but since you will have already done your college - it may be a nice bet for you and talk to the recruiter about an MOS that is most closely related to SWAT and I think it would help you out...
Hope this helps.

I think the Guard & reserves is more what your looking for. Will Service time improve your chances at a SWAT slot? Debatable. Most large PD's have actually a rather small Swat force. 20-30 tops, and not a great deal of turn over. But being a Military Sniper would boost you chances I would think. Good Snipers are always in demand on SWAT teams.

It depends on which job you want for the Army, don't know about the Marines. But certain jobs call for a certain number of years enlistment. Talk to a recruiter about that, he or she can help you find the jobs available for a 2 year enlistment.

Marines, Navy, and Ari Force are all 4 year active terms or 2 year active 6 year reserves.
Army has a 2 year enlistment but you'd be a ground pounder unless you have a trade or provible skill.

It depends on the MOS. They all have different minimum requirements. You would have to ask a recruiter.
A word of advice. A lot of police departments do not like former Military Police though. They like military, but often do not like MPs because the job is simular enough that they can develop what a department calls bad habits. Not all departments, but a lot.
