A lot depends on the school and how his orders are written. I know when DH went to Nuke school his move was "With Dependents" as we were already married and I was already in the system. And the school pipeline was 6 months of A school, 6 months of Power school and then another move for 6 months of prototype.
I know here in Groton there are guys who go to Sub school and then other schools up here but as each school is shorter they don't get "with dependents" orders. However, sometimes they can send a special request if the entire school package will take longer than 6 months and has already been approved to happen in one uninterrupted time period.
Other than that, actually living on base is all about space. If they have space in housing and you qualify you'll get in fast. If they don't have space you'll be on a waiting list and then have the choice to either live out of a hotel, rent somewhere in town, or head back home.

It depends on what kind of PCOS it is. If it states he can bring his family you're good to go. If not then you'd have to live off post. (look at his orders) As for living on base a lot is determined by your rank and what kind of housing you qualify for. There could be a wait where on the base. Try looking up the base either by google search or on military.com. A lot of times they'll either tell you or have a number posted on who to call to see what the current wait time is. Some places will even show floor plans of the housing that's available as well.(they did this at Ft Bragg) Good luck and congrats on your new baby!

Normally, married people are expected to live together. The rules may be different for his specific school though. Also, there may be a waiting list for base housing, so you may need to get an apartment or rent a house in the mean time.
This would be a good question for him to ask his Chief or 1st class.

No, has he already gotten you an ID card and had you approved as a dependant? You probably won't get base housing but they will pay him BAQ/VHA to live off base.

only if his orders state 'Dependents Authorized'. if not, it won't matter if he was extended, he won't be allowed to bring you along.
of course, nothing prevents you from moving on your own dime, just be aware that he may not get permission to live off base with you and you will not be reimbursed for the move.

If his school is longer than 26 weeks, you can live on base.
Most schools are shorter than 26 weeks.
