I was told Mass. can only ask if you have been convicted of a misdemeanor in the past 5 yrs. I need to know if this is true of every employer as a law.

MISDEMEANOR CRIMES ARE ONLY POSTED FOR A THREE YEAR PERIOD--FELONIES ARE ONLY POSTED AS LONG AS THE CRIMES WAS FOR-20 30 40 YEARS--

Most job applications ask if you have "ever" been convicted of a crime excluding traffic violations. Theft is the biggest reason. A company that needs to have their employees bonded cannot do this with a theft conviction.

This is part of the background check info., so they can always ask this.
