Negative emotions are not a weakness, but what makes an individual human. No matter how good of a person an individual is, or how innocent, it is impossible to not have negative emotions. Admitting that you have them is a strength, it makes you one step closer to spiritual enlightenment than the countless others that deny this truth, and those that think it is a weakness. However, admitting is only the first step. There is more to do to continue to evolve spiritually. Faith is what's important and it will guide you through your journey.

A very wise priest once told me: humility is truth. If you have negative emotions, and you stay otherwise, that is an act of pride because you wish you felt otherwise than you really do.
Negative emotions are part of our human existence. I am guessing by "negative emotions" you mean anger or fear etc? All we need to do, really, is investigate Jesus' life. Did He get angry? Yes. Look at when He overturned the money-changers table in the temple. Did He experience fear? Yes. Look at the Garden of Gethsemani. Yet He never sinned. The words of the Apostle are appropriate here: in your anger do not sin. We will all experience these negative emotions but the key is to not allow them to be an opportunity for sin. We may experience them, feel them, but do not need to be controlled by them. We must, by the grace of God, choose to remain faithful to God at all times - even when we experience anger or fear or any other negative emotions.
When it comes down to it, it is a strength to acknowledge these negative emotions because it requires humility. Anyone can be proud. It is a part of our fallen humanity. It takes a strong man to admit he is weak, which is genuine humility. We must always pursue the truth. When we are angry, we must admit we are angry but yet sin not.

In and of itself, negative emotions is a weakness... while admitting or accepting the fact that one has a weakness, is a strength.
That's the first step to healing one's self.
Peace be with you.

Once a negative emotion is identified, it can be analyzed and felt. Spiritually you will be stronger by doing so and defeating the source of the negativity.
Being spiritual does not dismiss the fact that you are also human...it's what you do with the negative and positive that forms your true spirit

Strength, in many ways. Overcoming the convincing, prideful, arrogant, fallen nature of my flesh is a constant battle. The Holy Spirit indwelling within gives me the strength I need to confess and repent my negative ways. I do not know what I would do without the Holy Spirit. I thank Jesus for this precious gift.
Blessings always to you!

I would assume a strength, no matter what you'll have a pissy day at least ONE time in your life...so it's natural that you'd have negative feelings about something. It's a strength when you can overcome the negative emotions.

I assume that you use the term "negative emotions" to refer to jealousy, hate, annoyance, rage, lust and the like.
No human has control over their emotions. They do, however, have control over how these effect them and how they express the feelings.
Admitting that a full spectrum of human emotions is felt is neither a spiritual strength nor a weakness. It is a statement of fact, the same as admitting that one breathes or urinates. To state anything else is to deceive yourself or to attempt to deceive others.
Anyone who believes that spiritually enlightened people do not feel "negative emotions" is perhaps forgetting stories like Christ clearing the outer Temple or Lao Tzu's final sighting.
It is not what we feel, but how we express emotions that is important.

A strength, of course. How else can you hold a light up to your own darkness?
I get cranky, tired, angry and scared. The important thing is what I do (or don't do) with these emotions. If I denied them, that's adding a mental sickness on top of everything else. Not very functional.

NOT admitting that you have negative emotions is a spiritual WEAKNESS ... we can't 'fight' something if we can't 'admit to it' ... so 'admitting you have negative emotions' is a spiritual strength since it's the 'opposite' ... you can 'fight' something if you admit you have it ... even 'doubt' ...

Very much a strength. They are part of you whether you admit to them or not.
If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. 2 Corinthians 11:30
it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 1 Corinthians 15:43
AND BEST OF ALL...
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
Your weaknesses show how weak you truly are and they willl hopefully help you turn to Christ. Be humbled and love God, friend.

in short to your answer no it is not a strength and it is not helpful.
but if you would turn that to a strength, you take it to God in prayer and let God do the work in you. Paul deals with this in romans 6-8 where he describes man's state and how through the work of the Holy Spirit, we are perfected in weakness. an important point to make, your best is pitiful, and your worse is really bad. Only by walking in the spirit will you be strong in the LORD.
now while on that point, the preaching of the gospel to them that are perishing is foolishness do not apply spiritual truth to non-christians. they have to work to heal themselves, we wait on the LORD
