Some people feel the benefits immediately, others in a few days or weeks. The most important thing as that you started and each day you will notice an increasing benefit to yoga in your life. A sense of calming, more flexibility, control, balance and harmony, as well as the physical appearance changes like muscle tone, decreased fat and such which will take on average at least a month. This does of course vary due to the amount of fat or current muscle mass you start with. Enjoy the new sense of peace and overall well being yoga will bring into your life!

You get out of it what you put into it. If you do it daily, you will notice results quicker than if you do it once a week. I have been doing yoga for 30 years. I do a basic set daily, it only takes about 15 minutes, but it keeps me stretched, relaxed and limber. The best yoga I ever did was Kundalini yoga and it was also the most difficult, but had the most dramatic results. I did it daily for about a month before I REALLY started noticed the results, which were dramatic. It worked on my nervous system at a time in my life when I was experiencing a lot of uncontrollable ups and downs. After a month of the yoga, I was as calm and centered as could be, nothing bothered me, but nothing REALLY excited me either, but that was much preferable to what I was going through beforehand. If I had to choose one and one only form of "fitness" it would be yoga.

A few yrs ago, I weighted 270lbs, felt miserable, and had multiple health problems. I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. So decided to do something, other than popping all the pills the docs were giving me. I started basic yoga. 3 times a week. As time progressed, it turned into everyday, and the intensity was increased. I also made some other life style changes like eatting right, cutting out caffine and meditation. In a yr and a half, I lost 130lbs, and now take no more meds. I am no longer classified as a diabetic. I honestly feel better than I have my whole adult life.
For me, it took about a month before I started feeling any positive benefit, other than being sore. But I stuck with it and by the end of 3 months, I felt a BIG difference. And other people were commenting on the changes in me as well. Just dont get discouraged. It takes time, but is well worth it. I contribute yogo for 80% of getting me to where I am today.
Good luck

I did Yoga once a week as a Phys Ed option in my last year at school. After the first session, I slept like a log all night, and 2 days later found aching muscles I didn't known existed. But 3 weeks in at 1 hour a week, I was definitely feeling benefits even if they weren't visible. I'm asthmatic, and the breathing exercises we'd learned certainly helped when I had an attack during the whole-school Cross Country event. Yoga wasn't specifically a quick fix looks-wise but after a few sessions you'll probably notice small things, like a better night's sleep after a session, how easily you can stretch to reach something, or in my case bend to pick up something small from the floor. You balance will improve too, and if you have to do something strenuous like carting heavy boxes around you may not get so out of breath.

Immediate result you say? Can I be honest with you. I commend you for wanting to have a healthy life but mate, when you do something, you don't go into it thinking when the result will happen.
It's in the journey not the destination. That's why people quit because they want result now, or in a few months. Do yoga not because you want to see result but because you want to be healthy, mind and body and that you live for the present and not think of past and future.
That you do it as a way of life not as a process of a result because the real result, is not in the way you look, or how supple you are. It is in how you percieve life and the lessons you have learnt within the realm of meditation with your own souls and those around you.
Benefits? Yes, there is benefits in all you do that is consistent and that is based not on superficial ideas or awaiting result. The benefit is in the journey, in the moments of what you learn about yourself within the times of peace, solitude.
The result is NOW - the result is experiencing it now. Because when you get to the result, you will find what? Lack of satisfaction and a need, a desire to want more. Hence, the result is ever moving. So, it is not in the destination but rather, the lessons you learn and derive from your journey.
That is Yoga.

A few years back, I had tendonitis in my knee as pretty much an every day thing from sports that I was playing at the time. I had tried all sorts of things to get rid of it, all to no avail. I was down to figuring the only option was to take some time off from my activities, but in the past when I had taken short breaks, the tendonitis would go away only to come back again. Then a friend advised me that in many cases, infeixibility is the issue really at hand with a lot of knee pain. So, I started yoga just twice a week. In about three weeks, my tendonitis was gone, even though I was still fully participating in sports. And it has not returned for over five years now.

I like to say there are four phases of training. One is size.
I went through ballet, I got 10 inches taller. The real test is
weight, again I was an early growth and was a crash dummy
for the college scholarships, yet learned a lot of nutrition. To
the next phase I wouldn't know your specific routines though if
it was these points, then eating correctly, you would need yoga
for two hours and soothing fresh air for top model result. There
is the variable of your personal goal. If yoga is one of the first
exercise points you entered, there is a chance you should not
feel much for 4 months, until your mind is peaceful. In general
if your in good shape, about 1 month, turn up the volume yet
keep outside with environments of the families traditional fauna
for the most calm, and best control.

It depends on what results you are hoping for. You will feel better after your first class. It helps with anxiety, too. You may even feel a little sore. If you are going for flexibility, you will see marked improvement in about six classes. If you are going for tone, then you'd see results faster with pilates. If you are trying to get so strong that you can balance your entire body weight on the tip of one finger while balancing on the tippy top of Mount Everest and singing a Tibetan chant while drinking a Grande Triple Shot Soy Late with Sugar-Free Hazelnut.... then that's going to take many, many years.....
The more classes you take, the more results you will see. I do yoga four times a week. I started out with two, then gradually added on. After a year, I had the results I wanted. That was 12 years ago. I don't always go to the classes, but I do it at home at the very least. It is an important part of my life.

It really varies. When i tried yoga the first time, I started to feel results after two weeks. The results will come quicker if you first condition your mind. To really see the best results make sure that you are calm in relaxed.
Once you are in class, completely focus on how your body feels and nothing else. Have a very clear mind while you are doing your exercises. I know you didn't ask for all this but, yoga is about being fit in your mind and body. Enjoy your class! i am taking it for the second time now! :)
