I may not believe in the sprinkling of water on a babies head, and you may not believe in tithing, whilst Jane believes God isn't a trinity and Joe likes to wear just shorts and thongs to Church.
You've got to agree, we have some differing beliefs.

In the lessons taught by Jesus and the apostles in the New Testament, we have priceless instruction on how to live Godly lives.
What are your thoughts - one or two things you feel are essential for us to be in sync, on the same track as each other to serve Our Almighty God and Creator in Loving unison?

Micah 6:8
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Galatians 5:13-14
13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. 14The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

P.S. Chippy: "Billy" should know that we don't worship the building.
"My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness...
On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand."

P.P.S. Delicious, dear, you should be aware that very early Christian texts do survive today and corroborate what we believe about Christianity and the Lord Jesus (ALL praise be unto Him). A great number of the books of the New Testament were written within a few decades of Jesus' life on earth, by people who knew Him personally (as opposed to your "prophet" Mohammed, for example). It is ALL later, more contemporary books (the Gnostic "gospels, and yes, the Qu'ran) that contradict the divinity of the Lord Jesus, His crucifixion, etc.

P.P.P.S: Mandi: WELL SAID!! (And congrats on your upcoming nuptials, btw. :-)

We are all ONE in the body of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are a living organism of holiness, purity, and righteousness in the sight of both God and man. We are the very Temple of the Lord God Almighty and His Will, we shall do. As Christians, as a whole make up the "Bride" of Christ in which Christ shall return and we shall rule and reign with Christ for 1000 years on this earth as kings of the King of Kings and the Lord of lords. We are the family of God and it is His Holy Spirit within us that separates the true sheep and the goats of the apostate Church. Paul made it plain and simple when he stated that those that are "lead" by the Spirit of God, are the children of the living God..So, the real questions are: Do you have His Spirit abiding IN you? And are you being lead by the Holy Spirit of God?

.Do what the Bereans did:
"Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so." Acts 17"11

I would not be so concerned about the ecumenical movement as being in the Word and sticking with the Word.

Romans 12:16
Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
1 Corinthians 1:10
Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Philippians 2:2
fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

I have to quote John Wesley on this one. Wesley was a founder of the idea that we must come together as a church. It isn't what we do on the mountaintop that is important. It is what we do in the valleys, in the cities, in the neighborhoods and homes of the hurting and unloved that matters to God. We need to stop trying to spread the gospel to Christians in churches that already have it. We need to stop trying to convert ourselves really. Wesley said, "In the essentials, we MUST agree. In the non-essentials, we must allow freedom. But, in everything, we must have love." Ah, so true.

I believe it is essential to understand the history of why we need a Savior. Time and time again God gave his mercy to the nation of Israel and they turned their back time and time again. He sent a Savior to the world to free them from their own mistakes. It is essential to we understand that in order to be a Christian at all, we must accept Christ as a Savior of our lives -- saving us from sin and death -- and as the Lord of our lives -- having authority and dominion over us. I believe it to be essential to love one another. John 13:34 said that we have but one new commandment. We are to love one another. We have a summary of the whole Old Testament laws in two commands -- Love God with all your soul, all your heart, and all your mind and Love one another. I believe these to be essential. John 13:34 says that the only mark we have of being a disciple of Christ is the way that we love. We MUST love each other. Lastly, I find it to be essential that we follow the commission given to all believers to spread the gospel to the world -- I do not mean to shove it to people. I mean to spread it in love to those that are hurting. Love God and love others. Help others when we can. Pray for those that we cannot. Be with those we can. Send help for those we cannot. We need to join like a family around a kitchen table and embrace or differences. We are the family of God, but we don't act like it enough.

The key word in your statement (in my present opinion) is essential. The only 'essential thing, i believe, is love of God. The 'other things' are because we love him,and trust(faith) him.

Jesus said His is the only way to salvation. The Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him.

The bible is 100% correct ( God does not leave it up to each person to decide the percent they like).
Jesus (God in the flesh) is the only way to salvation.

Salvation is by Grace alone and not of works. A Christian church/denomination that teaches you must do good deeds or religious works as the basis or part of the basis of your salvation is wrong. Once you, as a Church, have that established you can work out the other issues.
