Does anyone actually hate Jesus?

I don't believe Jesus (if he existed) was a god, but how does that imply that I hate him?

I'm sure that somewhere out there, there are people who really despise Jesus and all that he stood for. Personally, I have no particular enmity towards him. I believe that he existed, but not that he was the son of God or the Messiah. If I met him on the street today, I would likely treat him no differently than I would anyone else.

Well, I can't say that, either. If I met him on the street and recognized him for who he was (which is unlikely, as the conceptualization we have of Jesus today probably looks nothing like him), I would, at the very least, offer to buy him lunch. I'd love the chance to chat with him for a while.

Who hasn't seen posts that mock and demean Jesus?
What Christian has not been subjected to really nasty remarks about their devotion to Jesus?
Anybody who has been in the R&S section for any length of time knows what I am talking about...some of us, who are even older than that can tell of "User Created Rooms" in Yahoo chat with names like "Let's Nail Jesus Up Again", or worse.
But, do they actually hate Jesus? Or are they trying to "get a rise" out of Christians?
Is it that the people who do these things feel justified in their stance when they can provoke a Christian to anger? I know we've all seen that as well.

No, I don't think anyone actually hates Jesus, Himself. Nobody who actually knows Him could possibly hate Him.
I do think that there is a growing animosity against His followers, though. I think that Christianity itself has become a mockery, with it's many "profits", and it's flaming hypocrisy.
I am a follower of Jesus, but I cringe when someone addresses me as a "Christian"...not because I am ashamed of Christ...but because I am so ashamed of what the religion has become.

I don't hate Jesus but he was never God or the son of God. He was a wonderful Prophet.

How can anyone hate Jesus? Maybe you don't believe that he is the son of God. That is OK, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Look at all of the good works and teachings he left behind. Regardless of whether he is divine or not, he is by far one the world greatest people.

I have never heard anyone, regardless of their beliefs, state that they "hate" Jesus. If Jesus existed, I believe it was as man and that he was not divine. This does not imply that I "hate" him.

I don't - I believe even that he existed- so much hoopla over a man that we even had AD and BC - but not in the fashion he is being expressed today! he might have had some wisdom and was a teacher - kind,smart ,compassionate! like Buddha or Gandhi!

Well, Jesus IS a God, he is THE God. But by simply not believing in Him, not even thinking He existed, implies that you do indeed hate Him. Read the Bible, it's in the New Testament.

As I take a giant leap and pretend that Jesus existed and is still existing, I find that I love him very much, because we drink much wine together and the women really dig us.

Very good point. In all my many years of life I've never heard ANYONE seriously say they hated Jesus. Even the few Orthodox types who address this issue see him merely as one of many "errant Jews" - wrong, but certainly not hated.

I don't hate him at all. I don't even know if he ever existed. Jesus might be a "gestalt" a combination of personalties and ideas or he really might be the son of a deity for all I know. Who can tell?
