Yes tattoos can hurt depending on where you get it.....

If this is your first tattoo LMAO then you are nuts - do not go for a full back piece and/or sleeves - You do not know how your body will react to the ink, irration, and pressure of a huge piece like this.

You are looking to pay a few hundred maybe thousand (depending on where you go) for a full back piece (minus sleeves) You are also looking at a few sessions and a F*ck of a lot of pain - you will not be able to lay on your back, sit up, and it will be VERY painful to walk.

Hope you have vacation time and a good loved one to over see your care of a piece like this.

First of all, if this is gonna be you rfirst tat, then you need to size it down!!!!! You can't just decide that your're gonna get one and decide that right off the bat you're gonna go for a back piece and leg cover. I believe that a tattoo should have some sort of personal meaning to the wearer. Not just cuz you thought it looked cool. You need to really think about what you want, and if you decide that one is right for you, start small on your back. You can eventually turn it into a back scene. One that incorporates lots of varying sized tats into one big picture. As far as good sites to look at, I believe someone mentioned bmeink.com, which is awesome. Also try www.tattoojohnny.com maybe buy a couple of tat mags and thumb through them. Oh, and yes they do hurt, just depends on your tolerance for pain. Don't get drunk B4 and remember to eat a meal B4 as well, and take plenty of water to drink.

Well if this is your first tatoo then it might hurt it might not depending how much pain you can take. But those tatoos will take some time to finish and you will be sleeping on your stomach for a little bit you know lol. anyway I think those tats are awesome and good luck to you!

Well the only suggestion i'd give you is to start with a small one and see how you go. When i got my first one, the vibrations and my being nervous made me feel nauseous.

It's really not a good idea to try and start with anything too big until you know you can handle getting the thing finished.

Really big tattoos have to be done in more than one session. If you really hate the sensation, it means you'll have to repeat it over and over again, so really give it some thought my dear.

Also make sure you love it, don't worry what a bunch of strangers think, make sure you love it, cuz you'll be the one stuck with it forever.

ok to answer your questions.

do tattoo's hurt? Yes - how much depends on where on the body the tattoo is being done, who is doing it and your own personal pain threshold.

you might be better off starting with something smaller before rushing straight in with a back piece, as if you discover 15 minutes into a piece that will take several hours to finish that you can't stand it you will regret having an unfinished artwork on your back for life.

find your tattooist and pick them carefully, this person will be working with you very closely for many hours, so you need to feel comfortable being with them and trust them. don't just go to the closest/cheapest you can find, after all it's YOUR skin that will be getting tattooed forever!

choose the design carefully, don't just get something on a whim, that's a recipe for regret.

In my experience Tattoo's dont cause too much pain. There is a certain element of it but it's bearable. I have one on my back across the shoulder bone. If you have a good pain threshold your away with it! You'll feel on top of the world and will want another! Best thing to do is visit the tattoo parlour and throw about some suggestions and they will draw one up to size for you.

i got a tattoo on monday.
it is my first and i got it on my stomach.
the tattooist tryed to talk me out of a stomach one and thought i would be better off with an arm one.
i had made my mind up and got it there any way.
it felt like a thin needle being dragged across my skin.
some parts i felt more than other parts and at its most painful was uncomfortable. the most painful parts made me breathe in making the noise you make when you see someone else in pain. if you think about it the tattooist only draws small lines so after everyone you can compose yourself again.
take some gum and chat to him to keep you at ease and remember to eat your meals as you dont want to feel faint, maybe take a snickers for after.

Yep... they can hurt but it really depends on your pain tolerance.

It feels like bee stings over a bad sunburn... that's the best way to describe the feeling.

I suggest you go to "bmeink.com"-- They have over 7,000 pictures in each category and you can find some sweet tattoos.

Best of luck!

I think by now its clear that there is pain involved in tattoos, but its definitely tolerable. Some times it feels more annoying than anything, other times there is a burning sensation. I have nine myself.

I like this tattoo website:

http://www.bme.com/

Good luck...find something you truly love.
