Is it more infuriating when their point seems ridiculous or uniformed? Does it seem that we deal with children (or immature adults) sometimes in R&S?

I realize that I do it sometimes. Right after I asked a question it dawned on me that I was trying to make a point and not really ask. Of course I see this alot and was wondering if others saw this also. We all have our biases and it shows in our questions and answers. Do I ask legitimate questions to feel people out and "find weaknesses in my arguements"? You bet!, but I know I can also make a statement and put a question mark at the end.
If I asked to make a point with this question, then it was unintentional.
There are some really good answers. Make sure you "Thumbs up" your favorites.

But this question is guilty of doing just that.

Questions are often a debate tactic on R&S to prove
a point or get attention. It is not always a bad thing.
Jesus often answered a question with a question.
However, there is a lot of teasing and trifeling going
on that is certainly childish!
And, yes, some points do seem rediculous and uninformed.
It happens for all sides of it.
However, I have also noticed that "reason" is by
polarized standards - we can't even agree on what
good reasoning and bad reasoning is!
Now, that is pretty sad as well!
It has to do with questioning authority, yet turning
around and saying that truth is relative.
It is a circular reasoning pattern that makes no sense at all!
Sometimes R&S reminds me of the Jim Henson
movie Labyrinth (1986) with all those foolish goblins
in it laughing and mocking and not making any
sense ever.

Most questions have an assumed answer. Most questions are asked to incite others. Yes, we deal with children and some adults that haven't yet grown up.
Your first answer more then proves your point, no doubt.

I know the answer to 96% of my posts and if it infuriates you, go take a Xanax and lie down. You may need anger management training. I ask my questions to get you to think. What's immature about that?

99% of all the questions here are asked to make a point....not get an answer. It's what goes on here.

I know what you mean, but good luck with that here! IMHO, most of the "questions" here are not questions at all, but challenges and dares...not designed to make people think, but designed to make them feel small and stupid for not agreeing with the questioner. Small people behave in small ways. Stupid is as stupid does.

......... if you had just left it at the first part, this question would be valid. but you turned into exactly what "infuriates" you by asking the next bit.
thanks for the two points!

You're doing just that right now, unless you genuinely want to know whether or not we hate it. In that case, no, I don't hate it, because nothing on YA can rouse that much emotion from me.

I feel when people do that, it is manipulating and insulting. They are trying to lead you into a discussion, by treating you like a child.
Some people will do anything to feel smarter than they really are.
