If you stick with the stuff that is just peanuts, it's good for you, high in fat, but at least it's the good kind of fat. Many of the popular brands have sugar and other ingredients added to them for appearance and taste enhancers that make it a lot less desirable. Go with the "natural" kind that is just ground peanuts, or at least something like Skippy's Natural which has very few add-ons.

It's healthy monounsaturated fat, though. It is highly caloric and you will put on weight if you eat a lot of it. But it is also an excellent source of protein, and it's a great stand-in for meat, if you're a vegetarian (like me).
A peanut butter sandwich made with all natural peanut butter on whole grain bread? Good. Chocolate peanut butter pie? Bad.

It depends on the brand-jif and skippy are full of fats. But natural peanut butter is wayyy good for you. And the protein fills you up and satifies your hunger.

It is good for you. And that is considered healthy fat, like olive oil. Just make sure that it's all natural and not loaded with trans fats and corn syrup.
