I have noticed a lot of the athiests on here are very prideful, so where does this pride come from? I think being athiest is just a cover up for being too proud to bow down before God. In the back of your mind, tell me if you think there is a higher power, but you just don't want to know, or if you honestly think there is no God. I am just curious, I want to hear everyone's opinion, and no rood or hateful remarks-I will report u..sorry!

WELL, MOST PEOPLE WHO HAVE PRIDE ISSUES DONT ACKNOWLEDGE IT.... SO, I WOULDNT GUESS THERE ARE A LOT FO ATHEIST ON HERE THAT ARE HUMBLE ENOUGH TO ADMIT THE YHAVE FAULTS... AND I DOUBT THEY EVEN SEE PRIDE AS A FAULT.

"WHY DOES BETTY RAGE??" I THINKS ITS BECAUSE OF THE ABSENSE OF GOD IN LIFE....... I THINK IF YOU WILL JUST TRUST THE LORD, YOUR RAGE WILL BE GONE..DONT TAKE OFFENSE TO THIS CAUSE NONE WAS MEANT.

Honestly, Atheists don't believe in God. It's not pride-- it's that an Atheist can't force themselves to believe any more than you can force yourself to belive in the Tooth Fairy. Telling us we believe in God is like me telling you that you believe in Thor. You don't, so it's a fallacy. I honestly don't believe that there is a greater power. To me, there is no God. Period.

Also, this would be like telling you that you're too prideful to admit that God doesn't exist. Life is a two-way road, friend.

I'm Agnostic, I have no proof that God is or is not there, and I don't believe that anyone can prove without a doubt either way. This doesn't give me pride, however I am happy to know that I don't have all the answers. If I did, life wouldn't be fun.

True athiest do no believe in a god or dogma of any sort. They believe that we as humans are the divine. Creators within ourselves. It's not pride. They just are fearless because there is no god to fear. Philosophers are usually agnostics or athiests that scientifically look at life not spiritually. They believe we take control of our morals and destiny's not some divine spirit.

Very few that I know. The way you pose the question reveals you are having a difficult time accepting that there are such things as atheists. But believe me, we do NOT believe in a supernatural "higher power."

It's also extremely difficult to see how pride would motivate denying the existence of something. What would be the point?

1.) I make far too many mistakes to be prideful.
2.) For the love of your God, please spell atheist correctly. E-I, not I-E. (sorry, spelling and grammar are a pet peeve)
3.) "I think being [atheist] is just a cover up for being too proud to bow down before God." Yeah, like I haven't heard this one before. If I had evidence that God existed, not only would I believe, I would "bow down". Unfortunately (for you), that evidence isn't there. I truly believe that God does not exist in any form because I have seen to evidence to the contrary.

I don't think that most atheists are actually prideful, however many of them, especially on this forum, do seem to take an inordinate amount of pride over feeling superior to religious folk.

In some cases, this can be accounted for as a manifestation of 'Internet Tough Guy Syndrome', sometimes it's just a misreading of intentions through the internet filter (which tends to lack sarcasm tags), but it rarely, if ever, is due to some bizarre closet theism.

I can be prideful, however I am also very humble.

I trully believe there is no god. Or at the very least there is such a minimal chance that it is pointless to believe.

It has NOTHING, ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, to do with bowing down to a god. I WISH there was a god. I would love to feel that sense of security and care that I had as a child.

"I have noticed a lot of the athiests on here are very prideful"

assumption, not absolute fact.

"I think being athiest is just a cover up for being too proud to bow down before God"

seems like you have already made up your mind.

"n the back of your mind, tell me if you think there is a higher power"

nope. Not your version of god, not Ra, not Allah, not Shiva, not any of them.

Why are you proud to believe in God? I'm proud to be athiest because that means I have an open mind. I am not comitting my life to some dogma just to make myself feel better. I am athiest because I can't believe in a God that supposedly loves me so much yet is willing to damn me because I have a different opinion, just like you.....

Sometimes yes. Why is pride a bad thing? If you do a good job, shouldn't you be proud? I take great pride in the job I do at work and there's nothing wrong with that.

You should too.

Arrogance is a cover for insecurity.

As Dr. David Lieberman noted, anyone who is bluffing is easily spotted, once you know what to look for, because a bluffer usually over compensates in some way in order to sound more convincing than he really feels.

In other words, an arrogant person is trying to sound more confident than he really is.

Interpret that last remark however you want to.
