Probably but by such a small amount as to be negligible. Contrails are caused by the condensation of water vapour from a plane's exhaust gases, effectively what you're seeing is a very long, thin cloud.

Water vapour causes warming, clouds cause cooling, the whole system is probably more or less in equilibrium and even if it's not then the contribution to warming or cooling is so small as to be of no significance.

We conduct calculations involving at least 1000 contributors to warming and cooling, contrails aren't one of the factors taken into account.

The contrails actually help keep the planet cooler. After 9/11 the skies were free of planes and the temp jumped by a degree or two. Scientists tracked it and found it is slowing global warming.

the aircraft exhaust within the contrails is a major source of air pollution so ya probably

Yes but aircraft represent 2% of pollution. Power stations, ships, Deisels and petrol engines are far worse.

Aircraft allow developing nations to sell their products and raise their standard of living. It also gets people to visit other countries and see how others live growing understanding and hopefully leading to people being against conflict and becoming more aware of the plight of the common man. Air travel above all else probably won the fight against racism!

If there was one area that polutes and should be protected it is probably aviation!!!

Contrails don't. They are only water. But there are other things in airplane exhaust that do contribute to global warming, like CO2.

it causes global dimming, blocking sunlight from entering, aerosol pollution also blocks sunlight, and helps seed more clouds. So, the greenhouse effect we are seeing now is no where near it's potential. As industry cleans up it's sun blocking emissions global warming will increase at an ever faster rate.

contrails dont but chemtrails might. Titanium is found in chemtrails, and titanium is great at reflecting sunlight, which is why its the main ingredient in most sunblocks

If you mean air travel..then yes. That's why I think private planes should be made history..just causes extra and very unnessecary pollution.
