This is a serious question. If I were to get in like a car wreck or something and got amnesia and didn't remember anything about my life...would I still be an atheist, would I feel like theres no god? Or would I be indifferent towards the idea of a god? Is there a possibily that I could become religious again, or would I most likely become an atheist again?

I'm just curious how that would work...

Wouldn't know, I'd think that it depends on the ones around you...BUT you'd start off not knowing anything, therefore not knowing God...so I would assume then that you'd still be an Atheist, unless someone of a religious faith comes and picks you up and teaches you there religion, then you'd be of their religion, and if you fall back into Atheism, then good for you, if not, then still, good for you...hope I helped some...

It's a very good question.
I don't believe that atheism is the "default" (as if people could have a "default", how silly.)
I believe that searching for the Creator is instinctive. Ever since there have been men developed enough to worship, there has been some form of religion. Some people think they have developed to the point that they no longer "need" God...but I honestly think that atheism involves alot of work, denying that instinct, and forcing oneself to depend completely on "logic and reason"...when actually, it is not logical or reasonable to suppose that everything we know (and everything we don't) just appeared all on it's own. The idea that life originated from some sort of primal ooze (the explanations for this are myriad) is patently ridiculous on it's face. It takes a mighty act of will, I think, to believe this.
I'm not sure why atheists put themselves through this. It might be pride, or perhaps a reluctance to be governed by some Outside Source.
I believe that, deep down, your spirit "knows" that there is a God Who loves you, but I do agree that alot is going to depend on the people who help you recover.

That depends on the injury you received to cause you this amnesia and how brain damaged it made you. If it did make you quite brain damaged then chances are you would become religious again, although if you were to remain within your faculties after the incident then I'm sure you'd still be an atheist.

After my car accident, I was very close to amnesia. It was only temporary (about a month) but I couldn't even remember who my dad was, never mind add 4 plus 3 together and come up with the correct answer. I was still Atheist. A gods existance didn't even occur to me.

Its a great question, but a much better question would be whether a fundamentalist Christian with Jesus in their heart would still feel Jesus in their heart after total amnesia. I am certain the answer would be no. They would have no idea who Jesus was until they were told. They would not associate their feelings with a deceased man or a religion of any kind.

It wouldn't "work" any particular way. It depends on how bad your amnesia was, and whether any deciding factors changed in your life. If a million Christians you know surrounded you in your time of recovery, then you'd likely be Christian.

I would like to think indifference to god is the same as Atheism.

You would probably become whatever religion you were first exposed to (re-learning is a be-yotch, like being a kid all over again...), and remain in it until your old feelings and memories resurface (if ever, and even then, who knows...)

I'm surprised that people with amnesia can still speak english.

Atheism is the default position. People have to be taught to believe in gods.
