yes! somebody should do something, give her a wig, hat, soething, and that's just disgusting that her parents wouldn't try to make her look normal

When I was bald from chemo, I never wore a hat or wig. A hat? In August? Now THAT would be mean!

Do you honestly think that kids asking why she hasn't got hair is the most important thing on this family's mind right now? When my son, then 5, had cancer, I really didn't give a hoot what anybody outside of those making medical decisions for him thought, and that included teachers, his friends and my friends.

When your kid has cancer, or when you have it yourself, BS from outsiders about what you should do is simply a minor annoyance, like a gnat. You hardly notice it, and you sure don't lose any sleep over it.

Besides, most kids don't LIKE wearing hats. Not even when it's -10 degrees outside!

So she doesn't wear a hat - she can't hide the fact that she has cancer, and if the kids are going to tease her they're going to do it with or without a hat. Maybe the parents shoud take a day to go to the class and explain to the kids what's going on, give them a chance to ask questions and learn something about the disease.

Even if her parents were to put a hat on her. I'm sure that hats aren't allowed in school. You can't hide the fact that you have cancer either. the other kids should except her and not put her down for something like that. Their parents should have taught them that.

Why does it bother you that she walking around with no hair? Why is that cruel, maybe she doesn't want to wear a hat. The girl is sick and if she is going through chemo the hat could be really painful due to highted sensitivity in the skin on the scalp. She is still that same person she was before she lost her hair. Sounds like you are the one with the problem not her or her parents.

She has a lot more on her plate than worrying about whether there is a hat on her head or not. Why don't you encourage the other kids to redirect their attention to more friendly venues. When my son was little and wearing a hearing aid to school, his first grade teacher gave all the students a "handicap" for a day so they could learn to empathize rather than tease.

I went through my whole chemotherapy bald.

I chose not to wear a hat except as sun protection when outdoors.

Yes it looked funny seeing a bald lady sitting at reception where I worked, people got used to it.

Yes, people sometimes stared, and kids sometimes asked questions, but it was my choice to do this and deal with it this way.

Maybe it is this little girl's choice. If it makes you uncomfortable that is your problem.

she doesn`t need to wear a hat.. she doesn`t need to be ashamed of anything.. the school needs to have a meeting with the kids in the gym and let them know that this little girl has cancer and to make fun of her is wrong... when i was in grade school a girl have leukemia and we had an assembly about it.. she never got teased again... she died little then 6 months later.. she was one of my friends..

first of all maybe she wears sunblock. second of all it's not mean of kids to ask a question like that it's natural and if she doesn't want to talk about it i'm sure she would give a polite answer and move on.Unfortunately there seems to be more and more kids getting cancer and most deal with it better than adults do.If you want to help her......be her friend .
