Eeehm excuse me?

I'd like to have a lentil soup first, some tantuni afterwards with yaprak sarması and a green salad.

As dessert i want kaymaklı ekmek kadayıfı.

That's all for now. Thanks.

# Edit: Hellooo? I'm still waiting here, why does it take so long?

Dear Ipek, first let me tell you that Turkish food is my all-time favourite. It is true that some dishes are common with Greece (and yes, whenever you come to Greece you will be our guest and you will enjoy excellent baklava - my grandmother was the expert of baklava, so I may make a lesser model of it for you-, ekmek cadayif, etc.), as we lived together for so long, and the origins of some foods are lost in history (Byzantium, Ottoman Empire, then plain cooking in Asia Minor, then Greek and Turkish cuisine), but this is not the issue here. The answer to what you asked is:
I love hunkar beyendi (I actually cook it very well, too), manti, vegetables yoghurtlu, ic pilaf and acem pilaf, gozleme, and of course all teh sweets, but especially asure (my dad's specialty, probably the only thing he cooks, he learned from his parents who came from Gemlik, Kios in Greek).
My suggestion to you is to go to Pandeli restaurant, in Istanbul, over the bahar market. He's got a branch here too, I've been to both, and I really loved the Bosphorus shrimps he makes, wrapped in kadayif and pomegranate sauce. Oh, dear, my appetite has opened....

"Fat bottom girls make the rocking world go 'round," Ipek.

Favorite food? Hehe. Are you asking me, Ayran?

If what you mean is cooked or baked food, the thing I like about our cuisine is that I can find anything my mood demands. Meat? Of course, all kinds of kebaps are in my service. Vegetables? Sure, I have a very wide variety. Fish? Sweets? Mmmm. Yummy!

So, I don't have one single favorite. All of our cuisine is my favorite, from iskender kebap to purslane (semizotu). I am not a big fan of sweets, but one or two slices of Güllüoğlu baklava goes very well from time to time.

Iskender kebap
Zeytinyagli Dolma
İçli Köfte
Yarım ekmek arası döner, ayranla nasıl gider!
Aşure (Arap tatlısı sanırım ama olsun biz daha iyi yapıyoruz =p )
Fıstıklı Baklava (It has to be with pistachio!)

Ipek, do you have to ask difficult questions all the time???
At least change your Q and ask 'what ARE your favourite...'
I love all aubergine dishes (imambayildi, hunkar begendi,karniyarik...).
I love shish-kebap and sheftali kebap (a Cypriot delicacy).
I like yalanci dolma (yaprak or kabak cicegi).
I love taze borulce (black-eyed beans) boiled and dressed with olive oil and lemon juice.
I love mantı, pirohu, tatar boregi.
I love iskender.
I love baklava (kaymakli) and sekerpare.
Oh and an Italian one: penne al forno (fırın makarna).

edit: Did I mention domatesli bulgur pilavi and yogurt?

Hi Ipek,

Well, I have many favourite dishes...I like all kinds of kebabs, all kinds of mezze.
I like "kavurma", especially during Kurban Bayrami.
I like all recipes of "köfte", but I have a preference for the famous "köfte" of Akhisar (Manisa province), with slim hot bread, green hot chillies and tomatoes, with cold ayran
I am also a fan of the "cig köfte", with salad lambs.
And I love also the "lahmacuns",of course.

I love all the sweets, but I have a preference for the classical "sütlaç".

That's why I am so anxious about burning calories at fitness club... ;))

Best Turkish food ever: ispanakli borek after a long evening out.

And IpekK: in reference to your Queen song, while my tooshy is finely shaped, I'm a runner, so I can eat what I want and still have energy to burn. ;-) Why don't you tell the guys they should hold back on the fattening stuff, huh?

Yaprak dolmasi, imambayildi, tas kebabi, adana kebab and too many to list. Turkish cuisine is so rich that you simply can not just say 1 item. Once you go Turkish, you'll never try anything else.
