Forty-year generation (1948-1988) ?

Were you disillusioned by this prediction? If so, it was man. not God, who mislead you! Deuteronomy 18:22 says "When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

Presumably you are referring to someones idea that the Tribulation would come within a generation of the reestablishment of Israel (Matthew 24:32-34). Thats one way of interpretting those verses.

Actually if everything is meant to happen within a generation of the reestablishment of Israel in 1948, one could also argue that the tribulation will arrive before the generation of 1948 has passed away. Which means the tribulation will come before all the children born then have passed away. So if a few live to 100, it would be before 2048 !
