Look, I could really care less if someone wants to get a tattoo on their lower back, BUT, I would rather not see it! A LOT of the girls in my town who dress like complete skanks have "tramp stamps" that they display proudly. I'm sorry, but if I can see it, and I am not at the beach, then you are showing too much skin to be considered a "classy lady".
So, if you have one, I do not think you are a tramp. If you have one and you feel the need to wear super low cut jeans with your thong hanging out and a shirt that is two sizes too small so your tattoo's always exposed to the world, then yes, it becomes a tramp stamp.

ok ok. honestly posting a question like this onto yahoo answers is not going to make people stop calling it a "tramp stamp" seriously. it's been done before. people always have been and always will be judgmental, but as long as you like your tattoo who cares?
the "tramp stamp" name came from the fact that soo many girls have tattoos on their lower back and several of them are trampy. obviously. why would you get a tattoo there unless you intend to show it off... you know. that's not a place that you can see wearing "regular" clothes.
basically, my advice is: get over the name because it's not going to stop anytime soon. don't get so hooked on what other people think. rather than complaining about it, prove them wrong.

Finally. Yes they are just tattoos. I have three tattoos one of them is on my lower back. I hate when people stereotype them as tramp stamps. I'm not a tramp, a slut or anything of that kind or manner. I'm actually a very classy intelligent person. It just a tattoo. People need to grow up and get over themselves. And stop judging and categorizing people they don't know.

i hate it when people call them tramp stamps, when someone asks if i have a tattoo and i tell them its on my lower back, they are like ooo you have a tramp stamp! im like yea i have a tramp stamp of a cross!! go me!! i hate it. my cross is in remembrance of my mother, and means alot to me, i got it there so i can have it and be able to cover it up if need be, jsut because a girl has a tattoo there doesnt mean she is a tramp or is easy. its annoying. ive never been able to figure out how that name came across

Yes they're just a tattoo but they have now been named as tramp stamps. But you got it for yourself so don't worry about what other people have to say about it.

It's viewed as a 'tramp stamp' by upper middle class Republicans that have nothing better to do with thier lives. Don't feel bad. I happen to like tramp stamps, and so do a lot of people. Do you really care what a bunch of uppity snobs think anyway?

Lower back tattoos are called "tramp stamps" by men who can get with the girls who have them. No, really though...a lot of women have a tattoo there and the trampy ones let it hang out.

It just ridiculous to call it that way, but so many girls have done it over the past few years an all had the same thing done. be creative and design your own tattoo, so be original.

i have one also and have been married for 6 years and have three kids, i did'nt know the stigma attached when i got it, but who cares what others think, how you act makes you a tramp, not the placement of your tat.

...and look at it this way... at least he's not staring at your ***! just lookin at your lower back
Get three rings in your nose and noone will be accused of staring at your chest either...
The way I see it you've taken a positive step in eliminating yourself as a sex object. GOOD FOR YOU
