I am certain General Custer thought he was up against a bunch of stone age barbarians when he went to the Little Big Horn.
As long as the countries which have entered Afghanistan are perceived as invaders there will be people who will defend themselves. This area of the world has a history of having to fight invasion and the mentality of the people is to defend THEIR way of life not blindly accept change.
Even the Provincial Reconstruction Teams that Canada has sent in to help the people has been met with deadly force. Hence 2500 combat troops to protect them from the people they are 'helping'

Rules of Engagement. If the USA wanted to use a scorched earth policy like wars used to be fought, there would be no question. Since we try to fight "nice" wars these days, all it takes is for the bad guys to blend in with the local population, something the Talibanis excel at. It's not a question of can't, it's a question of having the will or the desire to wreak the devastation necessary to beat a foe that uses women and children as shields.

they lack any central leadership so every bit of the taliban is scattered, it's like trying to pick sugar off of gravel.
also, they don't have any real dress code or markings
making it impossible to distinguish them from civilians.
and just because them have a gun doesn't mean they're not a civilian, everyone carries a gun.
and these people have been raised to hate us
it's just how things are and we can't just make them like us either, beating the taliban would require almost wiping out an entire way of thinking

Soaring? Did you actually say 'soaring'? Boy, you do live in a sheltered little world, don't you?
Still, despite your uninformed over exaggeration, Afghanistan will hold up just fine against the Taliban, thanks. It was, after all, the people of Afghanistan that drove the Taliban out with our rather limited assistance. The Taliban will never again rule in Afghanistan.

The truth is:
local Afghan poppy growers use their cash flows to buy US and NATO field commanders.
They use US and NATO forces as cover-ups and hired hitmen in their local clashes.
They are not the "stone age" people as portrayed by Washington Obkom propagandists. Lots of them received good education in Arabic and European countries.
They know very well how to buy and bribe silly Westerners.

The greatest problem in fighting the Taliban is the failure of "citizens" of this country who fail to support our military. All you do is provide them hope for surviving the hell of the United States military. Read and heed.

We could very easily if we wanted to.. but when our own government is corrupt and making alliances with them it makes the job kind of difficult... Actually the main government that opperates under the Taliban is Sauidi Arabia and thats the one Bin Laden was connected to... ever wonder why we waste our time in Iraq? but don't attack the country that is affliated with the taliban?

They hide in caves, they are everywhere, assimilate as whomever they want to look like, they are as invisible as the taliban. We could be talking to one when we are in class at college, or at work. it is a huge huge huge organization. they don't communicate with sophisticated communication sources. as you said they are like cavemen. they sneak in the night, we are so used to technology to rely on and they do not. It travels word of mouth. They kill anyone who has knowledge that could lead to them. it is like a virus traveling slowly but surely in the world. that is why. look around you.

Anybody can claim they are Taliban as anybody in a KKK uniform can claim they are a ghost from the Civil War.
