Please don't worry my cat had three legs, no tail and isnt the best at sprinting out the way. I lived in a flat before so she became a house cat and since moving she roams everywhere
The first day she got out without my supervision she was gone for hours. I had been around the neighbours, cried and everything, just about to get in the car and do a thorough search when guess who turns up.... trio squalling for food. Cats have a tendency to be run by their bellies lol. Keep an eye out and as said above if you get worried open a can of tuna(strong smelling) or my trick, shake your box of cat biscuit and call his name! if he has been out, he has already got the experience of the neighbourhood, he knows the scent of your house and will know roughly where its postioned, they are great at finding there way home... good luck! let us know he gets home safely and not with a girlfriend in tow!!!!

Cats are very good about finding their way home even if it hasn't gone out the front door, it most likely goes around the whole neighborhood when he is let out. I'm sure he'll be fine, try calling him from the porch. If he doesn't return after a while, open a can of tuna and you'll have 10 cats there in 5 minutes.

he should find his way back most cats do as they know where they get fed, my cat goes out for 3 days straight sometimes but has always come back, cats are very adventrous when they want to be so he may have gone to investigate a certain sound or smell he can sense, keep an eye out if the street is fairly busy because some cars may not stop or see cats in the road especially at night

If he hasn't been out that way before he may not find his way back home. Go around calling him. Put out his favourite food. Ask the neighbours. Sometimes if a door to a garage or garden shed is open a cat will go in and then the owner may close it without knowing the cat is in there. If your cat is still not back tomorrow you may need to start putting up posters around the area, shopping centres and local schools. children are the most likely to find lost pets as they play outside.

Cats have a natural sense of being able to find their way back home, so he should be fine. I do the exact same thing with my neutered male cat, and he always comes back. However, if he has been gone for more than 2-3 hours, you should start searching for him.

He should be fine. He knows that home is where the food is. I have an outdoor cat, and the only reason she hadn't come home was if someone had accidentally trapped her. Although, In all the time I've had her, this had only happened once. She had a ID tag on her, and she was returned.

He is feeling his feet now!
Unfortanately cats are free agents. Unless you want him to be a housecat there's not much you can do.
Is the street busy? If so it might be wise to not let him out the front door.
In answer to your question....he will know his way back.
Hope this helps.

he should do, when he is hungry he will come back, perhaps a wee shout of dinner or the key words that get him to the food bowl will get him to appear, iv known of cats havin territory of more than 2 miles
