if so, how did you handle this? it literally just happened to me. it was strange that they already had my address and beginning of my credit card number (it's actually a debit with a credit card company on it...so it's not JUST a credit card)....and they had 3 different people talk to me and recorded me the entire time. i was at work when i answered so i was blind sided by the questions.

turns out they immediately took $75 out of my account because i apparently "okayed" it.
i've already canceled my card.. and i will be canceling my banking account and re-opening a new one today. but now i'm scared of what's next to come - they claim they're mailing me things...i guess i'll have to cancel them or they will keep sending me bills :( helppp!

Same thing happened to me, but mine was for 185.00. I was asked if I wanted a 30 day free magazines. I said yes, and they proceeded to say a bunch of stuff really fast. At the end I just asked if I cancel before the 30 days I don't get charged. That same day I was charged 185.00. When I called back to tell them to credit my accout and figure out how they had ithe number in the first place. Turns out that I ordered some books with my credit card and the company saved the info. and a partner company called me to sell me the magazines. Needless to say I was credited the 185. in about 2 weeks. Thank goodness. They were rude, but at least I got my money.

Do not give your credit card or debit card number out to ANYONE you do not know and cannot verify the credentials of ESPECIALLY over the phone. Tell them to send you a letter in official letterhead so you can verify and then call them. Go to their website on the net and call that number if you have to in order to double-check. the real company will understand. Have a credit card with a small limit on it to use exclusively for Internet purchases. That way if someone does get it they can't charge much and may have their charge cancelled altogether by the company if they try to overcharge. One the back of your card(s) where it says "signature" write in "must show photo I.D. or "must show driver's license". That way if you do lose it and someone else tries to use it they will have to show an official I.D. matching the name on the card, which will have your picture on it.

Just stay on top of it and keep canceling!! It's good to cancel the card and the bank account too! Smart girl. Never give any info out over the phone....but I guess you realize this now? You're one step ahead now.

file a complaint with http://www.ripoffreport.com and http://www.ftc.gov give them all the details of the company..

To Avoid scams here is what i tell people...
All spam emails/unsolicited phone calls/letters and faxes are scams.
As a general rule - ANYTHING involving Western Union/money gram = Scam.
my Advice: Don't deal with anyone from a foreign country or Accept checks from strangers and never use wire/bank transfer services.. you risk losing your $$ and your mind.
Remember, if it sounds too good
to be true, it probably is! NEVER(ever) give out your personal information to strangers online or offline! Always be on guard.
