We donated the 4 kittens to the Humane Society where i live, and since we've come home, my cat's been yowling and meowing. She's still eating and using her litter box fine, so is it because of her kittens? And if so, what can we do to help her? I've tried playing with her but she just wanders off and starts meowing!!!!
P.S: She's not sick, we visited the vet as well after giving her kittens away and he said she's healthy!

Eight weeks is young for kittens to be rehomed. Ideally, starting at 12 weeks, the kittens are placed one at a time, so mom has time to adjust and her milk has time to dry up slowly. Her hormones will adjust better this way, too. Give her LOTS of love. Kittens to a Humane Society are not a "donation". They don't need more cats. Thank you for planning to spay your girl.

She will get over it in time. There is nothing you can really do. She is calling out to her kittens. She probably thinks they are around somewhere and is trying to find them. I had a cat that had five kittens and it is heartbreaking to give away kittens. But it is also the same with the kittens. They will have to go through the seperstion from their mother and then from their brothers and sisters. I know where one of the kittens is and he is doing fine. Give your cat some time. When she wants attention she will come to you. You have done all you can. you have taken her to the vet so you know she is not sick. You could try getting her some new treats or toys.

yes she misses her kittens
i adopted a mother cat and her kitten from the humane society i was trying to adopt both of her kittens but some else had already adopted her other one. When i brought my cat home she searched around my house for her other baby and cried and cried for days. Of course she misses her babies would you miss yours if they were all taken away for you? of course. Animals have feelings and emotions just like humans do.. It is almost cruel to take her kittens away from her. Maybe you should consider going back and adopting at least one of two of her babies. You should have also had your cat spayed so that more unwanted cats were not brought into this world. Shelters are overflowing with cats and many healthy cats are being put to their death. Over time she will realize that her babies are not coming back but she will most likely never act the same.

Yes, it's because her kittens are gone. 8 weeks is a **little** young for them to leave their mother, but they'll all probably be all right.
About all you can do is pay plenty of attention to the mother cat (as much as she'll let you, anyway) to let her know that her humans aren't going anywhere. Other than that, you'll just have to give her time to settle down.
Oh, and since she's seen the vet to make sure of her general health, does she also have an appointment to be spayed?
Best of luck with your cat. Unfortunately, she's going to be a little crazy for a while, but give her time and she'll be fine.

She may very well be back in heat again and is yowling for a male. Take her back to the vet and have her spayed before you end up with another litter. The Humane Society can't handle them all.

You "donated" the kittens to the Humane Society? Get your cat fixed ASAP - the Humane Society doesn't need those kinds of donations, there are too many unwanted kittens as it is.

I've raised dozens of cats and have gone through this many times. Your cat will be okay in time. She's suffering a kind of "empty nest syndrome". She's calling the kittens. I know it hurts and makes you feel guilty, but she'll get over this and you will too. It shouldn't last more than a few days. I know how you feel. I've been there myself. Hang in there.

She misses her kittens. Did you keep them in a certain area of the house? If so, let her in that place so she can see they are not there. It will take a few days for her to understand that they are no longer at the house. You just have to be patient.

ok in addition to the spaying....
the thing is when you take all the kittens at once the mother actually hurts, physically she needs one left for the last to weeks to get the excess milk out etc - she needs to kitten to feed or it actually is quite painful in addition to any emotional loss
