No, the Bible is not literally accurate. It's ridiculous to try and make it so. The people who wrote it didn't even have that kind of mind set, that is an enlightenment and post-enlightenment mind set. The Bible still contains truth, but it's ludicrous to insist it is literal. It may be "accurate" about some things, but isn't about plenty others. Besides, that's a faulty standard by which to measure something we approach to speak to our faith. If we want accuracy, read a science book.

I thing the bible is part literal part symbolic part figurative I don't think any rational thinking human being would ever say that is solely literal.

There is no reason NOT to believe the Bible literally. Those who want to interpret the Bible or insist that it isn't literal usually do not agree with what it says and refuse to change their minds and practices.
The Bible was written literally, believe it for what it says.

It's not meant to be accurate, it's meant to tell tales to teach morals. No one with any education believes the bible to be accurate.
