To the best of my knowledge the Catholic Church has no official position on ghosts. The doctrine of heaven and hell would seem to negate any reason for ghosts to be the souls of dead people.

However paranormal phenomena seem to exist. These phenomena may come from sources other than the souls of people in heaven, hell, or purgatory. We simply do not know.

The Church is very suspicious of people who claim to talk to ghosts.

With love in Christ.

Kelkel, I am a believer and have been for many years. Right or wrong, I do believe in ghosts and especially demons. I have seen things that cannot be explained. Demons, of course, are from the devil. I guess in a way, ghosts are too.

I don't think that they are ghosts. I think that they are demons and angels. There is a spiritual realm that we cannot see inhabited by these beings. Ghosts usually conotates that there are people who died who are trapped here or something to that effect. The problem with that is that when a person dies their soul goes either to heaven or to hell which is a holding place for the final judgement.

Demons have existed since biblical times. You might have not seen them or heard them by yourself (and better not :p).

However, there is one thing you must remember, the Holy Spirit in you is greater than every other spirit in this world. Just keep reading your Bible to know more what the Lord wants to teach you.

If you're not supposed to believe in ghosts, then what do they do with The Holy Ghost?????

Sometimes I wonder if people really know what it is they are talking about when it comes to these things.... lol

The problem is that no one can say without a shadow of a doubt that any of these things exist. So believe or don't believe in anything you want. Unless you have definitive proof, its all based on faith.

I think if you believe in the spiritual realm you should believe in all of it; spirits, demons, angels and God.
