Can anyone tell me the best web sites to go on to find a job on a cruise ship. If anyone has worked on a cruise ship before if you can tell me what its like, if it was fun etc... Thankyou very much.

I have worked about 10 years on cruise ships as a photographer. Lots of time off when the ship is in port... you won't get that with many other jobs on board!

have a look at http://www.transoceanphotos.com

The best thing to do is go directly to the web sites for each cruise line. Each web site has a link for jobs/employment/human resources or some such title. Some even have jobs they are trying to fill listed on their web page. I listed some web sites below..

I also listed a cruise line jobs site.

I have heard, but not verified, that Norwegian Cruise line had problems finding people to work its Hawaii cruises. Apparently the line wanted or needed to hire Hawaiians but didn't get many people applying. I don't know if this is still the case, but its worth checking with NCL about.

I have not worked on a cruise ship but ave been on many cruises and always try to talk to staff, especially our waiter and room steward. They always say that you have to sign a contract to work for about 9 months straight seven days a week, with some time off each day. They are away from family for all of this time and then have a couple of months off before they come back to work. Even the ship's captain has this same type schedule. One cruise we went on they captain got off at one of the ports to start his leave and another captain came on.

Some people who work on ship, like the cruise director and staff, are salaried. Others, like the housekeepers and waiters are paid wages and get tips. They seem to like it but I would not characterize all of the positions as fun . Maybe if you could dress up and play Mickey Mouse on a Disney ship it would be fun.

Just go to the indevidual cruise lines and they have a "jobs" section. I always cruise on Norwegian so I can give you their web page www.ncl.com. Now, the "jobs" section used to be on the top tool bar but I think they recently updated their site and may have moved it. Ive spoken to alot of people on ships and it seems like it pays the bills and is fun but you will be away from everyone you know because you have to sign a contract for a certain period of time. Good luck.

Wow! I didn't know Tom Cruise owns ships. I want a job on Cruise ships too. Does anyone know Tom's telephone number in California or his email, so I could ask him?
