yah i agree blackbird. it using the "God" promotes one religion over another... in a free country i find this pretty hypocritical.

i like to remind myself that the bible says that people aren't to make graven images to worship. our society is so greedy, and people so vain, i imagine that god must be quite pissed about being trivialized to the point of being etched on the face of a quarter.

there just seems to be something wrong with associating money and capitalism with the divine being. it elevates a corrupt humanistic system and devalues a divine one.

Of course they would. This country is run by Christians for Christians. It's annoying how they whine about us being so mean to them, but they have no clue what it's like to have a religion that isn't their own shoved in their face constantly. I mean, I don't see stores shutting down for Hanukkah or Ramadan, but when Christmas comes along- oh boy, drop everything and praise Jesus.

Probably not.

Benjamin Franklin, a noted atheist is on the $100 Bill, and people have no problem using this note.

I don't think people pay any attention on what is on the currency, their is also a pyramid with an eye on the back of the dollar. This sign dates back to Ancient Kemet.

If the majority of people in this country worshipped Zeus, I, as a Christian, would not protest against "In Zeus We Trust" on the dollar. But, since the majority believe in God, it's appropriate to have what we have.

i agree w/ blackbird. i think that if america were truely a separation of church and state, then that wouldn't be on the dollar, it wouldn't be in the pledge, and gay marriage would be allowed, because religion is the only thing stopping it. not that i agree w/ it, but that is just my opinion. anyway, christians would throw a fit. but i wouldn't as long as the money still works i don't care what's written on it.

Your argument is faulty. Zeus was a god wasn't he? So the term on the money could be thought of as him if you so desired. Just because it says God doesn't mean it MUST be the God that the Christians respect. Could be Buddha, could be Allah, or even science if you deny a personal deity. I don't see this as a establishment of religion at all.... IHS Jim

What if it said "Some of us trust in a god, some of us trust in multiple gods, some of us don't think there are any gods meddling in politics, and some of us laugh at the silly things religion causes people to write on their money"

I would sigh, because there is no zeus. Then I would use change or write checks.
Oh and I would send whoever thought to write that on the US dollar a bar of soap.

; )

( In all seriousness though- I don't take the truth of God lightly)
and it would not surprise me if they took of "In God We Trust" because that is the way the world is going....doesn't mean I would stop trusting in God though!

I wouldn't throw a fit, I just think that incorrectly typing Zeus' name on the dollar bill is sort of showing our lack of education.

I could be wrong tho.
