American Muslimah just blocked me for my answer to this question.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgLwpaEbKdHa.rYOHky9s9nty6IX?qid=20070830094257AA64ouE

My answer was:
"The same problem is found in the Christian Bible. Since there are so many contradictory messages, you can cherry-pick the passages and support the theology that suits you.
There are other passages in the Quran that promise great rewards to martyrs who die defending Islam. Those are the passages that suicide bombers dwell on."

I find the idea of being blocked rather amusing, but I'm curious: Do you think my answer was insulting or objectionable? Would you block someone for an answer like that? Is this a good way to demonstrate the love and tolerance of a religion?

In your answer about the debate and what you percieve, you may have made a reference to some extremist Christians like those from WACO or the Branch Dividians ect ect. There has always been extremists in every religion that have decided to use it to suit their purposes and not go by what their teachings truely imply. There are even events that the Buhdist's and Taoists pushed each religion as the only religion in many areas of China. So maybe you should have made your reference thus.
I personally would not have deleted you for your answer. You gave your personal views and that is what she asked for if she didn't want your personal view she should have been more specific.

Let's see your answer was coherent, and made a point. I can see why you got blocked. Many people seem to want to make speeches disguised as questions. They aren't really looking for answers just slaps on the back. I would never block an answer like the one you gave, but I would also never ask a question where the only right answer was to agree with me.

1) I don't think that's insulting or objectionable, you're just contributing your two cents with providing information from the other perspective (Bible).

2) I won't, but then again, I'm not religious.

3) No, it's not.

Look at the context of her question. IMHO, it's not exactly a question.. more of a statement looking for approval.

Let's see. No, I do not think your answer was insulting. No, I would not block someone for an answer like that. No, it is not a good way to demonstrate love or tolerance. Its a way of demonstrating fear that they could be wrong.

Of course not! I don't know why American Muslimah would have blocked you.

when you ask a question, you are going get answers that you don't want to hear, but if you are honest with yourself, people should be open and read the answers, if you are going to be constantly blocking people for answers that are not even sexual in content, etc, DON'T ASK THE DA**QUESTION, RIGHT???

SO SORRY YOU WERE BLOCKED BECAUSE OF IGNORANT PEOPLE

I've never blocked anybody because I believe in free speech, and it's a pretty short exchange on here anyway. I was blocked by beautifulmuslimah for not agreeing with her, though.

I have a very select few people on my block list- they include any member of the super friends (report monkeys), a few rather blatantly antisocial theists, an atheist or two whose heads are firmly planted in their rectums, and fireball.

If I blocked everyone who said anything bad about my own holy book, most of my favorite R&S regulars wouldn't be my contacts anymore.

And your response wasn't even as mean and nasty as a lot of my friends can be about the Bible, it seems very reasonable to me!
