I have never smoked or had any other addiction, but I am so totally addicted to FOOD and doctors tell me that if I just change my patterns and habits of eating that it will go away. Sorry, but will power is NOT cutting it. Any suggestions?

I think that cold turkey is the way to go, but you may need to do it one food at a time. For instance, if you love potato chips and doritos, start buying only doritos, and not eating potato chips at all. Whenever you feel like having a bag of chips drink a glass of water, and wait 5 minutes. If you still want the chips, eat the doritos. Slowly eliminate particular favorites, until you are down to only one type of salty and one type of sweet. then go for the 100 calorie packs that Nabisco makes, and allow yourself one a day of each type. If you continue with the water trick, drinking a glass of water and waiting five minutes to see if you really want that food, you may find that you have gotten rid of the addiction, and can enjoy your food without eating too much.
PS if you mean McDonald's, start cooking your own food two or 3 times a week, and putting 4 buck in a jar each time you eat your own cooking. you will find your food is delicious, and you will save mega bucks!

Well, obviously you must stop buying junk food and keeping it in the house. Make sure you have healthy alternatives to snack on. My favorite is baby carrots & hummus. Other than that there's really nothing that's going to make it easier for you, it just all comes down to will power. Junk food is everywhere, you can never get away from it. But just set a goal in your mind and every time you see junk food remember your goal. You'll never make it without some faith in yourself and restraint from eating the crap!
