Need an encyclopedia for my school laptop for when I need info but can't get an internet connection. I have a brand new IBM Thinkpad, and I think it could handle any new software.
--Also, it would be nice if it was updatable and had extended online references and media.

Encyclopedia Britannica Ultimate 2008 Win/Mac
is yoru best bet.
I read that it is good to have Encarta 2008 as well so you have some overlap/

Microsoft's Encarta series is pretty decent.

Compton's is another good one. Most all of them have on line up date capability as well.
