I had mine kick theirs. and stomp on them. If that didn't work, I got some water, put it in a spray bottle, put a little bit of scented oil in it, and had them spray it when it was being bad. That works with monsters too.

you never said the childs age,but most kids are afraid of things like that and many more things. Explain what a shadow is and show the child by making animals on the wall.when they realize that it is not anything frightning they will do better . Explaining in detailing and having patience is so important.

Most young children and afraid of really weird things. Talk to him and ask why he so scared of shadows.He might have a legit reason. Also don't let him know that you think that it is crazy being afraid of that. act like it is totally normal. Try to convince him that there is nothing to be afraid of. If you can't don't sweat it. He will eventually grow out of it.
If is an older kid, (above age 10 or so) sorry I totally don't know what to do about that.

Confront the fear. Slowly introduce the shadow to the child and let them know that it will not harm then. In time, the fear will vanish once they realize it cannot cause harm.

turn off the lights. hide around the corner and call the childs name. when you see the child approaching, jump out and scream like a crazy women (hehehe)
