My husband and our two children under 5 yrs are driving up to Gatlinburg, TN from Tupelo, MS on the last week of September. This will be our very first family trip there!

I would like to know any info on what to pack for around the last week of September. I hear that the fall season is just beautiful with the leaves changing colors and such.

I have researched a little on a motel called Marshall's Creek Inn. Not very much info on the net, but has very excellent reviews. If anyone has ever stayed in this motel please tell all about it!

Any personal info on this city during "fall" would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi!
My main recommendation...LAYERS. Fall is that delightful time when it's warm one hour, brisk another, so I'd pack clothes from short sleeved t shirts along with complementary-colored long-sleeved ones and always have 2 kinds of jackets in the trunk. Having an extra pair of walking shoes for each of you is also a good idea in case the 1st pair gets muddy or wet.

I checked for that hotel where I worked & couldn't find that exact one, but there were 120 hotels listed in Gatlinburg alone, 12 with Creek either in the name or on the premises. I like the Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort and the Stony Brook Chalet.

Why don't you check out the trip I found there, which is geared to families who are traveling to Gatlinburg with kids? It even gives the parents a little time to themselves (babysitting services). Plus, by clicking on the places & activities, you'll get lots of ideas for fun things to do there. http://www.tripwiser.com/trip_planner-USA_Fabulous_Family_Smoky_Mountain_Getaway?TripId=8ad198040d86fd44010d880186f62237

Have a great time!

that is a great time to visit. the weather is usually pretty mild so you can enjoy the outdoors. There will still be plenty of bugs though, so take some repellent. The traffic can get pretty congested, be ready for that. You will probably do a lot of walking. So, wear the right shoes. I have kids about the same age. They love the go karts and helicopter rides. I am not a big fan of either one of those. And their little feet and legs get bored and tired fast when looking at all the arts and crafts that parents are interested in.

Enjoy.

I'd just take an umbrella. Weather stays pretty good otherwise- if you're gonna venture out at night, a light jacket might be good too.
